Very cool, man! I like that you ran the bed wood side to side instead of long ways like the original wood.

Thanks fellas. Ive been driving the truck all summer, Fall is here now so its time to put it in the shop till spring,

I actually got a chance to buy a frame for these trucks that has already had a Z welded into it! I picked it up the other day so now its time for sandblasting and getting it into a rolling state, Then Ill put all my parts on it.

Have a good weekend,

Here is the frame I bought for my 64. Ill reinforce the sectioned area and clean it up, but the guy who did it welded it up pretty good and this was in a running truck already,

The guy put a small C notch in the frame for some reason...... I have a 10 inch step notch on the bench Ill be installing as soon as I get the small one cut out. Once that is done; and I get my pancaked crossmember an other goodies on it my 64 will set the frame on the ground.

Id like to run these Mickey Thompson tires on it also, 29/18.5/15

Oh yea I just got Big Red, a 79 GMC 3500 454/400 to add to the FLEET!

Have a good week.

Nice project you have going on. Can't wait to see it done.

If that's a bolt in notch that you're taking out and you'd like to sell it, pm me.

Re: 64 Chev C10 Slam (Noob Style)

I know those tires are bigger than they look, but from that picture they kind of look like they belong on a golf cart!

Re: 64 Chev C10 Slam (Noob Style)

Hi and thanks,

Rick Ill sell you that c notch for sure, It seems to be a super thick one. like over 1/4 inch I think, Its a bolt in but someone put large tack welds on the inside of it that Ill have to cut out.

It may be a long time before the truck is done but I should have that notch out within a month or so.

Coop that would be one badass golf cart!

Have a good week.

Hi guys, Its been a while since I did anything but drive my 64, I got sidetracked trying to collect a chev or gmc truck from every generation, I have 5 in the fleet at this time but still got a ways to go.

So the plan is to prep the Zd Frame I bought, Make it a roller, and put my 64 body and parts on it, It will be my first frame up resto.

I bought a stock disk front end from a 71 truck the other day for 150. Just a pile of great parts,

First up is to pancake/section the crossmember 1.5 inches. This seems to be the magic number for this, any more and you get steering issues.

The Green crossmember I sectioned for my 64 was dropped 2 inches, and had to be shimmed back up a half inch to make the tie rods clear the frame.

Front end taken apart, and Crossmember pressurewashed and ready for surgery.

Have a good week.

Hi guys, Im just now getting the bed back on my 70 gmc and getting it ready to drive this summer, Ive got my 64 up on stands and ready to tear apart down to the frame.

I got one evening on it so far, the plan is to cut this frame in half, and put the front half of the Z frame I picked upon it, Then clean and paint every part that goes back on for my first frame up restoration.

Probably going to get a 454 and turbo 400 in there too.

Have a good week,

Hi, Got the doors off, RF fender, grill, rear end out, seats out,

Ill try to get the rest of the front end off tonight and maybe the cab,

Have a good day,

The new plan for the 64 is to remove the 454 and T400 from my red one ton and use them to power it.

Ill put a running motor back in big red later for sure.

The plan is to get the frames marked out, cut, and tacked together tomorrow on mothers day. And finish welded and and sand blasted monday. We will see how it goes,

Take care.
