Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

I ended up with one from Hondaparts and one off of Ebay.

Installed them yesterday and they do fit perfect. I did not bother to remove the little extra part of the seal some talked about.

When you install these you will notice a section of the gasket that has a point to it, put that to the bottom and toward the latch side of the door post and then just press it into place.

This one piece of information about these gaskets was worth 5 years of subscription....Thank you.

Unfortunately, I've got a while before I install mine. Still lots of other projects.

Just an FYI: this link goes to the wrong part number. Above is for the CR-V, but the OP said this is for the Civic (coupe). The one above is a few inches shorter than what is needed.

Correct link for RH, as well as LH.

I installed a set of them a few weeks back on my '66. Went on in a matter of minutes and fit like a glove!

Just wanted to update my status. I got the box yesterday (I forgot I ordered them LOL). Got both sides. Went out to the garage and luckily the seals that were on there, were press on (not glued). Not sure who made them but you had to seriously slam the door to even have a hope of closing it. In less than five minutes the new Honda ones not only fit perfect (I put the molded corner at the front, lower of the door) but I can now close the door with a standard amount of pressure.

Very happy with the results!

I got my seals last night the passenger side is installed and I love it!!! the driver side has to wait till I can get my rocker replaced lol a 5 inch section of the the mount area rotted out over the years. I found out they work on the 67-72 trucks as well from a local club member of mine

I too forgot I got my seal about 5 weeks ago and put them on recently. Like everyone else, they fit perfect! Many thanks for this find. Honda is probably wondering why so many cars need door seal replacements :)..

Yeah. I am sure Honda is ramping up for some major recall due to so many door seals being purchased. They must be figuring there is some defect.

Are these still available or should I expect to wait 5 weeks if I order them?

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

If you can't get new you should be able to find some good used ones at the wreckers. The same weatherstrip was used on 2006 thru 2009 Honda Civic's. They sold just over 300,000 of the Civic Coupes and Sedans per year for the 4 years for a total of 1,200,000. Guessing that half of these were Coupes there must be lots of used ones kicking around.

I was thinking the same thing.

I know this is a stupid question but I am going to the junkyard tomorrow. How do I distingush between a coupe and sedan? I am not acquainted with Honda civics.

Rob Fisher 10-13-2014 09:01 PM

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

Coupe is 2 door and sedan is 4 door.

66_c10_tpi 10-13-2014 09:30 PM

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

Thanks. I was thinking both were 2 doors like in the old days when you had 2 dr hard tops and 2 dr sedans.

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

I ordered mine at the beginning of the month and received them in ~ 10 days once the backorder was filled. Be careful that you order the correct number.

There was a slightly different number posted earlier in this thread that is different. Be sure when ordering to get:
P/N 72315-SVA-A01ZA for the right side.
P/N 72355-SVA-A01ZA for the left side.

There was a link at one time that referenced a similar part number that used "SWA" instead of "SVA". The SWA set is for a 4 door hatchback and is probably different.

If ordering from Hondapartssales.com here are the correct links for right and left sides.
