Appreciate the link on the Two-Cylinder site. I'm familiar with the Magazine and I'm an old member of Johnny Popper, but it sure kind of fizzled. I also go to YT Mag now and then, but the Two-Cylinder site looks great. Thanks again. |
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
I think Sweet 30 is right, the aide was for lack of traction on that steep grade. We know that Jimmy had the power to pull on it's own! I love it where you can see the smoke shooting straight up out of the pipes. Ain't no black. That mill is burning all that fuel!! I was also a bit disappointed to see the loader pushing, but that was like a truck pull with the weight on the sled fully forward, power vs traction. Traction kills the pull.

Too bad they didn't play the "real" music.

A 10-Speed Road Ranger in a School Bus.
1985 Crown with a 6-71. Of course he's skipping half the gears. Would had been nice if he went through all of them for the video: |
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
Looks like he's shifting a consistent 3rd, 5th, 7th, then 8, 9 and 10.
|
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
I agree. I can see doing that when picking up kids every block or two.
If we haven't seen this one, here it is. Short but sweet... on ears and eyes! |
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
Sounds great.
But why such a light load? lol |
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
I think he's on vacation
I have deep respect for the Australian road train method of hauling. Maybe it's more of a fascination. A whole lot of curiosity for sure. I wonder if they are the same trucks as ours that the authorities are just plain more lenient on or are they built on heavier chassis? It's like the wild west of trucking and I love it! Here's a Diamond T 6v53 pulling double flatbed loads of round bales |
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
Sounds great. Love the distinct sound of a 6V-53. I just wish he could shift better, lol. Looks like he's got a 10-Speed Road Ranger. I also don't know how he didn't take out the mailbox when turning into the driveway.
The trucks there probably have high specs, but I believe they just have liberal length requirements, especially way out in that beautiful country they have there. |
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
Yep. Less people, less restrictions. Not that they aren't here, but trucks hauling goods are vital to life there. Personal transportation is secondary. What a great world!!

Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
Just found another one, 12v71 KW log truck. What a beaut!
|
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
I've seen it before. I think I showed it before, but not sure. It just came up when I went to YouTube and I'll show it again. I know nothing about this truck, this set-up, where it was filmed, or what it's use is. I know it is super custom and clean as can be. I think it's Brazil

Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
I didn't want to start a new thread for this, and you do get to catch the Detroit a time or two. Just a great film. GMs of all kinds on the hiways

Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
Interesting film. Heck, she can shift better than some guys I know.
|
Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
Cooooooollllll... :)

Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos
Not a Detroit Diesel and not a heavy hauler. But this guy put a 478 V6 in his GMC pickup along with a Gear Vendors unit behind the NP435
