I was just checking out some of the pictures that I have and it is way shorter then the original housing. I'll shoot you a text so you have my number. And I'm not getting home till about 7 tomorrow and my dad is gonna be at the speedway all day so I'm gonna have a night alone with my truck :) I'll be at the speedway Saturday tho

Plans for tomorrow night: Go to the parts house and get a heater core, install the heater box, do that mod to the steering column and install the column, fix my brake pedal, and get the motor and trans bolted together. I need a cherry picker, which I don't have, to install the motor and trans so I am gonna have to wait till my dad's friend is home so I can borrow his. Which means another weekend:waah:

We'll chat tomorrow about the housing....since it is a 68, it'll be a little more narrow than a 72 (the 72 housings will be 1.5 inches wider than the 68)....but no worries, I see guys use these all the time in their 71-72 builds...gives ya a little more room for wheel backspacing....BTW...you'll need to get 5 lug conversion axles too (due to the width of the housing)....what did ya do with your other housing??

We still have the other housing. It's out of a busch east car so my dad will use it in a car that he builds. But the thing that sucks is that my brakes bolt directly onto the housing that we have so I'm not sure how that's gonna work with a stock housing. The brakes are made to go on a housing like the one I have

Thanks guys. I only had a few hours to work on the truck this weekend. I did manage to get a couple things done tho. I got the gas pedal done, the steering column mod done and installed, motor and trans bolted together, and I got my heater core installed and the box mounted to the firewall. I was to busy working to take any good pictures but I did manage to snap a few cell phone pictures.

Also had a great time at the Good Guys show. Sold a few parts and made a couple bucks to hopefully either get my seat covered or get paint on the inside of my fenders and bottom of my hood. Here are the couple pictures that I took

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been on here. There has been some progress on the truck, just not as much as I would like. Being in college is really proving to be nuisance when it comes to a big expensive project like this. Since I last updated the forum the motor has been installed, we solved the rear end issue, and a little more work on the interior has been done. I will take a million pictures for all of you picture addicts when I get home tonight. If I don't have them uploaded by tomorrow night, feel free to post the dreaded "This Thread Is Worthless Without Pics" comment. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, I know I'm ready to get home and see my family.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project

Alright here's what's goin on in the pictures. The motor is bolted in but we had to make a trans xmember cause someone stole my original one. So the trans is just sitting on a piece of square tubing which is why the motor is tilted back so far. When the xmember is complete it won't look so goofy. Also the wheel that is bolted on the rearend is just a mock up wheel off a super late model. It's only a 16.5 but I wanted to see how far I could get it tucked up there. The way it is shown, the pumpkin is hitting on the bottom of the bed. Also the spindles are off an old cup car but they don't have enough drop in them so there's a good chance those are gonna change.

Thanks guys. I almost finished installing the steering column tonight. I hope to have most of the steering done and possibly be able to start the motor before I head back to school. I'll be home until mid January so I have a little bit of time to work on her. Stay tuned for more pictures of my progress

I feel ya on this I spend enough on each year of school to build a completely custom 10sec truck with all aftermarket parts. And the prof's feel that your breaks are time for them to assign homework for the next semester... BTW Nice work on the truck it's coming right along.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. Just sent the rad support off to Fluidyne radiators to have a custom radiator made. Also working on saving up some money for a set of polished headers. There has been a little bit of progress. Mostly sand blasting and painting

Here are a few pictures of my recent progress. The first few are a track bar mount that we made. It will bolt directly into the frame and the track bar will run to the left rear of the truck arm

Ran some fuel lines, got a new thermostat housing, and put on belts. As soon as the radiator gets here it should be almost time to start this girl up.

Finally, does anyone have a cap for a steering box that they don't need? I somehow misplaced the one that I had and I need one. Here is a picture of my steering box

Little more progress today. Got my headers in and there were some issues with clearance so I had to take out the motor mounts and cut out the spots that touched and make little channels to fit the headers. I am gonna get the motor mounts re-powder coated when I get the hood hinges and latch coated. Also the track bar and bracket are at the nickel plater along with the U bolts, master cylinder cover, and a few other small things. Making progress slowly but surely :metal:

This is a great project! You have came a really long ways in a very short time frame. It will look better than a new truck when you're done. Subscribed.

It should be close on a few but I'm not sure. I don't have plug wires yet so I can't tell. And thanks for the kind words. All this time at home, I've gotten most of the work done that I can do so I'm almost at a stand still until I can save up some more money. I think the last thing on the list is run the fuel lines and figure out the center link.

Looks like a couple are gonna be close...I'm sure your Dad will help ya but probably add some heat shield/ sheathing to those plugs....also, if you haven't already, maybe add a little anti-seize to those header bolts and spark plugs:D
