Nice work, John! Those fat weenies look like they'll stick going around corners. ;)

Dude I just read through your build and I take my hat off to you. I just don't have the knowledge, space and resources to do a frame off. Plus there is no way I would attempt to do any type of body work. I hope everything checks out with the 327. There is just something about keeping the old school feel and to have a standard behind it will only add to the fun. I am trying to decide if I want to change over to a 700r4 or try my best to find a solid 4 speed to tuck behind my 327. I will be following your build.

Thanks for the read man! I've got the heads and crank back at the house. Block checked out good and is still at the shop awaiting pistons and rods.

Thanks Vic! I've wanted a ride with 295 BFGs out back since I was a baby

Thanks Joe! I'm still trying to map it all out before I order pistons.

Thanks Chip! Still avoiding the sandpaper like the plague  He is loving the job. He's still on the sh!t end of the deal, tearing down, hot tanking, magnafluxing, running for parts, etc... but he has gotten some time on the balancer, hanging pistons and a little assembly. He's also working on lot's of different brands, imports and domestic.

Glad it's going well for him. Better get that cab up on the nose and make with the Raptor liner!

Found my way over here from the No Limits Joe Touring thread and glad I did!

Great build and love the rear exhaust detail, was thinking about something similar on my 66 but as I am one of those terrible LS people, want to keep the area clear for a future rear tank.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

P. :D

Unfortunately I haven't done much here. Really need a few bucks to get this engine built. Looking for side work. Knuckles got his motor fired today. Test drive tomorrow and a smokey video!

The engine sounds good and is quite responsive! Great job

Is it a flat tappet cam or a roller?

I've always liked them too but it's a temporary thing for him. He'll be saving for a double pumper, and fuel

XR282HR (hydraulic roller), LS valves and springs (2.00 x 1.55) and Comp 1.6:1 roller rockers.

Thanks guys! He's pretty happy with the results so far.

Schweeet! In retrospect, I wish I'd gone the extra mile and put a roller in mine. The peace of mind alone would be worth it.

You gettin' anything done up there Johnny? The people demand updates! What's up on the truck? What's Knuckles been up to? Are you dodging all the riots, fires, mudslides, armed militants, etc? Git on the stick, son!

Thanks for checkin' Chip! Knuckles is still on the grind and has been the only one busy in my shop. Lifted the Swiss Cheeze and got his front driveline back in, built a 10.5:1 big block and just now has it installed in a square K20 for a pal. I'll take a vid of that thing, sounds killer! He picked up an '03 RM125 and I went through my ride at the end of the season. I've got some moolah to get started on my motor. Waiting for the king-salami to get back from vacation at Knuckle's shop, then I'm sending my heads in to start. Gotta finish the "plan" engine wise. I want to get a final cc on my chambers after they're built and then decide on pistons. Prolly going with a forged dome, then getting them machined down to a reasonable compression ratio. Boy has his eye on a forged 283 crank at work, thinks I oughtta build a 302! I don't think so...
