I am working on a 69 Chevy P/U and was needing to know the length of the driver door on your Suburban. If you can possibly respond with the dimensions i would greatly appreciate it. I called a few places like brothers trucks but they say they do not have that info. Also, I know the frame around the window is different from that of a P/U door. What is the angle between the horizontal line where the glass begins and the vertical line where the frame begins(part of frame that is closest to the b pillar). Thanks in advance!

Will do. There are a couple pics of it in Longhornman's roadtrip thread/album.

It took me two days to read to the end of 45 pages (so far). Your imagination and skills are simply outstanding. I will continue to watch your progress until the end of this build (but they never really are finished are they?). I can only hope to have half the energy and inspiration that you do to someday finish my 69/72. Thank you for all of your hard work.

Man is that ever right! I don't think I know how to "finish" a project  But I'll keep pluggin away as inspiration stikes :)

The burb doors are the same length as the truck doors. Window frames can be swapped between the two. Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot! You are certainly more help then some of the customer service people at some parts places. Where would you recommend getting some used Burb door frames? Thanks again!

The parts board on this forum is a great place to find just about anything chevy truck related. You do have to subscribe to post a WTB but trust me that it's well worth it. Otherwise there's always craigslist, eBay, an the good ol classifieds.

I have decided that i am going to make the suburban frame so can get practice out of it as well as save a little bit of money. The only thing that holds me from doing so are a few measurements. Is it possible if I get these measurements from you? I have attached a file hopefully it loads since im new to this site. A= measurement of top of door frame corner to corner. B= measurement inside edge of frame basically inside corner to inside corner. C= measure of the angle between the two parts. If you can reply with this info it would be greatly appreciated. Kinda sucks there are no burbs that i know nearby to get these measurements.

your build is OFF THE HOOK!!! I do prototype US NAVAL aircraft modifications for a living, englishwheels and nearly every Fabrication process in the book, to include Kevlar, carbonfiber, fiberglass, foam,wood,ferrous,non-ferrous, precious and non-precious metals, acrylics, plastics etc, ect, your build is the most ambitious, creative, and interesting build i've seen to date on this forum. AWSOME is an understatement!! IMHO V/r Phipp13

Where were they? I looked through the Longhornman's road trip thread and just found pics of the wagon and the nice red swb. It must be a different thread.

That's quite a compliment, thanks. You job sounds like something I would love to do. I'm ex Air Force (F-16 Avionics) and I love aviation. Still build/fly RC. I would love to do prototype fabrication in aviation.

Those are cool as hell. Art Morrison will build a frame for anything too.

Awsome build FF!
Just got done reading the last 34 pages...Whewww! (Read the first 12 last night).

Never been much of a fan of Subs but Tubby is sweet! And your fab skills are unbelievable!

Questions;
What size wire ya use in the mig?
How long do ya wait from one spot weld to the next? (when you're finish welding the panel)

Thanks man! .023 for sheet metal. I jump around doing multiple tacs until the whole seam is done. So one tac will not get another one placed next to it for at least 10 seconds. But truthfully I think with the .023 wire they can be done within a split second right next to each other without warpage as long as you watch the heat. Just don't run a long bead; especially on flatter areas.

Thank you for the info!

I'll have to get a spool of .023 next time I try body panels! That's what I used when I first got my mig and then switched to .030 for the heavier stuff that I work with most of the time.
Never give it a thought until I seen your spots. They look alot cleaner, (less grinding!) than mine did when I put cab corners on my 93.

Any updates on the Sunbeam? Unique little car! LOL Time frame for more on Tubby maybe?? Hahaha
