Hey crash. Just curious, did the 77-79 steering
Box bolt right in? And where did you get the
2" drop pitman?

Hope your getting some quality time in the truck
After all those months of work.

Every thing bolts up except for the steering coupler (rag Joint). You will need one from the same year.

Still have a few things to finish.. I also have a problem where the horn wants to honk at times when the wheel is turned 170 deg clockwise.. It does not happen all the time, but when it does I just wave and drive on..

Still considering raising the rear of the truck an inch or two.. not sure yet…

Finally.. I have started a new build (Not really a build yet.. More of a plan) in the Alternate Tinkerings section… Of course I do not have the vehicle yet.. but I am working on it… http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=592405

The truck sits level but your right the larger radius front wheelwell always make the back look a bit lower, think it sits just right as it is, crazy camera of yours just goes and goes for picture time. sure is a wallpaper truck, nice. What brand is the front diff cover, I like the style of it.

Thanks for the info on the steering box. I'm gonna take your advice and do this.
Seems like one of those mods that in the end, you really notice and makes a huge difference.

No problem Lloyd.. I agree it makes a great deal of difference.. But I cannot take credit for idea.. I discovered it researching this board...

Mark,

I had the same problem with my steering and I found it was the screw head holding in the turn signal lever would make contact with horn contact ring. I ended up just putting a piece of electrical tape over the screw head after adjusting the horn to make sure it didn't happen again.

My 69 Camaro had the same problem every time a good looking chic walk by! Lol

Truck looks great! Probably the nicest 69 K10 I have ever seen! One day maybe my 72 K10 will look half this good.

Mark, how do you like the 5.3/4L60E? I'm planning the exact same swap (up to a NP205 as well) and wanted to know what people thought of them. Particularly the tranny.

Thanks!

Thanks Ryan, I will check to see if that is my problem.

Thanks!

It is one of the best driving engine/trans combos I have ever driven. Great drivability, great power, great gas mileage when compared the the original small block in my opinion. This will not be the last 4.8/5.3/6.0 swap that I will do. I have heard some bad things about the 4L60E on this board and others. I have not experienced any issues with the 4L60E, and I don’t think I have ever met anyone who has. Of course any transmission will have issues if abused or used in a manner not designed for it. For the purpose that I am using it, it seems just fine.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. :metal:

My dad's '99 Silverado has a 5.3/4L60E in it, the tranny's blown up twice. He rebuilt it the first time, and a month later it blew up again. After he rebuilt it the second time, there were no problems, and that was 5 years ago...

It's my understanding that if you just upgrade the sunshell then that will make them stronger. I was contemplating either the 4L60 or the 80, but decided I'd probably go with the 60 since you don't have as much momentum it.

Thanks again!
