I'm not asking for a friend,, I am asking for me so I can compare it what I did one time some years ago..:)

Well I got this particular truck for cheap with no motor, Otherwise mostly all complete inside and out, minus the crank pulley and power steering bracket. The truck is straight, original paint, but does have some minor rust starting in the front fenders, pinholes in the outer rockers, and some rust in the passenger cab corner. floors and all structural parts of cab are 100% solid. Frame is 100% rust free, still in factory paint, and straight. That said, once it’s running and driving I’m going to cut and buff the original paint and just try to get it looking nice inside and out, new carpet inside, new window and door rubbers. (minus the vent windows) I budgeted about $1200-1500 in it on top of the initial purchase, before it’s ready to sell... Would like to think selling it for 7-8K is possible when it’s all said and done, but it’s only worth what someone else will pay. These squares are going up in value just the like the 67-72’s. I can’t hardly afford to mess with most of the 67-72’s in this way any more.
As you found out it’s all in getting them as cheap as possible and being ready to jump when you see them come up cheap.

Shoot I was a bit slow today, took me about an hour to get it stabbed and both motor mounts and transmission mount bolted down. The passenger side mount fought me a bit more than I’d like it to have. I have a feeling that I’m a good bit younger than you guys though. And this always helps too.

Yesterday I rebuilt a hydraulic cylinder for a backhoe and welded a jack on a small utility trailer. Today I got to pull an exhaust manifold and redrill the stripped bolts on a Toyota 22r for the neighbor. I wish it only took 1.5 hours. Bolts went from M8 to 1/2-13s to fix someone else's half #$& helicoil repair!

Took a 100 mile cruise in the ‘72 and hauled some more 73-87 parts home that I scored today. My wife and kids are up in salt lake attending a funeral, been gone since Thursday. Lots of time for me to do me things this weekend. Got my vegetable garden planted as well, except for the watermelons and pumpkins; the kids want to help with those. Went to Wally World to get some food to make a nice dinner when the family gets back tomorrow night. It Took me three nights but I finally finished my all time favorite movie for the millionth time... The Good, The bad, and The ugly... tonight I watched from blowing up the bridge to then end. It never gets old!

Scored 2 73-80 hoods, a 4x4 high hump, 2 73-76 doors with nice wood grain door panels, a nice straight tail gate, some clutch pedals and linkages, a 2wd sm465, a complete gas tank with filler, 4 16” aluminum wheels, and a few other small parts. I will make my money back probably on the tail gate alone, I need some door gut parts for the 79 C10, the rust free door shells will be for sale as will pretty much everything else.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Sunday afternoon was Impala maintenance day. Oil change, tire rotation, air filter, cabin air filter and drain/fill transmission fluid. Trans fluid was terrible. Black in color but didn’t smell burned. Will run it a bit and do it again. Have a filter for the transmission as well but wanted to get some better fluid in it first.

Sprayed half the yard for weeds. Get the back 1.25 acres this weekend.

The patio is Looking good. I like lattice myself. It looks nice and gives privacy and you can still get a breeze. I've got a little on my patio too.

So when's the hot tub showing up? ;)

We used to sell a 4x8' pvc lattice which installed loose in a u trim to allow for expansion. One of my guys like it so much he installed it all around his pool and deck. After chasing those panels all around the yard every time a thunderstorm blew up he didn't like it nearly as much.

yup, we've had cedar lattice and it fell apart if you looked too hard at it, so we always use vinyl. we've never had our vinyl lattice take off, but i've always put a screw or two into it to stop any flight- dam the expansion...

WE have built some rural jails with a tight budget, that we used steel cell modules in. They arrive on a truck, set 'em with a crane, tack weld them down and fill 'em up.

I thought it was a new idea, until I was in the 1880's jail in Silverton, CO. and saw the steel cell modules there.

What were you in for ???

Have you seen the one in Telluride that was made of something like 2x8's laid down flat? Can't remember exactly ... I was working up on the mountain in the fall of '79. It's about a 10x10 shed with walls of solid wood.

I drove to Kansas City today for meetings the next two days. I didn’t miss this during the Covid lockdown. I hate meetings.

It's crazy funny. Before I retired, I turned down so many jobs because I wasn't willing to leave Montana. Now they are begging or requiring people to work from home. I'm done with it all though

Meetings. :rolleyes::blah:

What a waste of time and money.

The only thing that I liked was they would bring in some good food. But towards the end they didn't. They cheaped out. Just horrible dry sandwiches and inedible side dishes.

The last meeting that I went to I saw the garbage that they were bringing in and went to leave. My friend asked me where I was going.

I told him that I was going to Arby's. F this Sh*t. I'll pay for my own lunch.

He said. But it's free.

I didn't care. I left.

So. I'm sitting in Arby's and I see his truck pull up. He walks in and says "You were right" And orders a sandwich.

I told you so. :)

It may not be the healthiest thing in the world but it sure is good. Better than that cardboard that the were trying pass off as sandwiches at their dumb meeting.

Finally reassembled the 66. Just a couple small things to finish up and I can give it back to my dad so he can do the rest. Then I get to bring my GMC home and get going on it again.
