What’s unusual about that combination? I’m asking because mine is a 71 2wd with barn doors. The second seat is missing and I’m not sure if it had the third row seat. Would the third seat be an option listed on this spid?

I find that for the most part barn doors come on K models and 3 row seats aren't the most common seat arrangement. It could be that most of the 3 row, barn door, half tons, got used as crummies and didn't survive. The unusual comment was in reference to what I see out there today with unrestored rigs.

The 3rd row was an extra cost option that would be on the SPID if it left the factory with them installed.

I know I looked at the spid once before but I’ll have to look it over again closer.

I wonder where he sourced the larger of the side glass windows?

Re: Suburban and panel finds

A good quality glass shop can make you tempered glass to order and then install it with rubber corded seals. We've done dozens of times on the boats at work. It's also common for van conversion companies to do. The real problem these days is the "Quality Glass Shop".

Re: Suburban and panel finds

Hard to tell but it almost looks like a burb longer side glass. Do they make generic seals you cut to fit? The metal the rubber would sit it would be thinner than something like a factory windshield or rear window ... You can tell I dont know much about this haha. Course like you said this was common place especially back in the 70's with the van craze.

I'm pretty sure the last window we installed came from these guys.

url]https://www.motionwindows.com/products/[/url]

There is rubber seal that is cut to length and the end are glued. Then after the window is installed There is a rubber cord that fits in a groove in the seal. Once that cord is pressed into the seal the glass is locked in place.

Thanks, thats some good info! One of the things I disliked about my panel after it was painted was the metal panel "insert" wasn't perfectly flat and being black it was kind of a let down.

I know it could be made flat, but I wasn't going to toss that kind of money at it.

I thought about cutting out that panel and having a someone put in a flange the depth of window glass and then gluing in a window like they do now days on vehicles. I was thinking about a piece of flat limo tint glass in there.

At this time the company I worked for had a glass shop next door, several old school guys in there. They told me no problem once I had the flange done (I was thinking everything as flush as possible to the window with no protruding seal would sort of keep it looking like a panel) they would make a template, have the glass cut and install it. Too bad everything comes at a price, it was more than I was willing to spend on something that might not have the results I was hoping for.

But now maybe doing it the way you showed wouldnt be such a bad thing with the upside it still has a panel-ish look but you could see much better out the sides.

I dunno, its still being worked on right now cleaning up the paint and misc bumps and bruises after sitting going on 20 years.

Boy I really went of on a tangent for a burb and panel finds thread ... Sorry guys haha!

71 c10 with a nice headliner 3 rows and barn doors $4500. Not mine. Someone should save this one. It's too nice to be chopped up to make a crew cab.

https://bellingham.craigslist.org/pt...538543337.html

Located in Lynden, washington. Clean title, running and driving 1971 2wd suburban. All 3 rows of seats. This is pretty well all original. L79 option with the original sbc 350. Have some receipts from previous owners proving this may have just over 100k factory miles.

Comes with a brand new full exhaust system (uninstalled) and some new rockers for it.

Drives and runs great!! Has its rust, was originally a white suburban but now painted black. $4,500 for it as pictured.

Don’t need to sell, hard to find something like this that is complete and running and driving… has original spare and Jack etc.

My plan was to convert this to a crew cab.. I do have an extra model year correct 4x4 frame, 2 extra cabs with doors, one with a title. Basically a lot of the parts if anyone was to do a crew cab project. Would negotiate a price for everything combined if interested.

Text is best. 805- three hundred. 2954 my name is Cameron.

what's "rejected" for?

fourspeedwagon 10-15-2022 07:48 PM

Re: Suburban and panel finds

I had to look it up - because I live in the Wild West and we don’t have those stickers - thankfully because all my cars would probably wear them..
A Red rejection sticker means it failed safety inspection and have 60 days to fix it and get reinspected.
A black rejection sticker means you can’t drive until you fix and pass inspection.
