May be too late for that up grade on the ECM, I will be happy if I can get the compressor to turn on and off!
I do have a trianary switch mounted to the drier and will need to look up the schematic to see how it is wired

Thanks! Is this what you want? I'm in the middle of adding A/C right now. Please excuse the bulkhead connectors above the heater core housing with no lines attached :)

Yes, exactly what I was looking for. Super clean. It's like you were in my brain. Love it.

this is exactly how an LS swap should look. I'm really impressed with the subtle fabrications you did. Great work!

Would this be considered in the "stock" location or inch back etc?

The first order of business was the mounts. I've done several swaps, but this is the first time that I had a SBC and a Gen 3 motor sitting side by side. So, armed with my trusty tape measure I came up with adapter plates for the stock towers and mounts to place the motor just where I wanted it. I made these mounts out of 3/8 plate. There pretty much run of the mill plates, except that the SBC mount holes are 1/4" below the Gen 3 mounting holes. This will raise the motor by about 1/4".

Here are the plates in the middle of painting:

I also needed to modify the passenger's side tower. First, I removed the top of the tower:

Then a duplicate of the mount "top" in flat steel:

Welded together and a rough pass with the flap wheel:

Gusseted under the edges to add back some strength and blasted:

All done, in paint:

Using the bell housing mounting surface as the point of reference, the plates that I made move the "LS" engine 1 inch forward of the SBC.

Thanks for that, I'm not sure why that seems to confuse me... must be getting older.

Hey Dayj1,

Can you talk about how you set up the transmission and column shifter?

Thanks

The truck had a th350 behind a 350 when I bought it. It already had what I think is a CPP crossmember and universal column shift linkage (rod type). I reused both on the 4l60 and bought an overdrive indicator lens from speedway motors. Is that the info you were looking for?

Thanks that helps. I guess I was assuming you where running a 4l60e and I was wondering how the column shifter and electric trans was hooked up.

Wow love this build. I like how the motor looks stock. I'm sure people give it a double take at cruise nights

Every time this thread pops up, it makes me want to rip the 5.3/4l60e out of my old '99 that is just sitting there and drop it in the Blazer looking similar to this. Unfortunately, I have too much money wrapped up in a new SBC to abandon that course. I just love the look and functionality of this, maybe on the next one.

I need to start a build thread on it. But, at this point, I've successfully disassembled and scattered a perfectly good running truck. :)

This is what it looked like after I mocked up the suspension and just before I tore it down to the frame.

And this is the current state of the new LQ4 in it now.
