Re: Worlds Slowest Dropmember Build

Hey Guys.
I'm alive. Thanks for the interest.
Del, you've got good spidey senses.

Sorry for the radio silence but I've been 100% out of the truck building business for the last 5 months. I've been 100% tied up with work (read: lot's of travel time away from home).

I have a couple of weeks off for Christmas/New Years so I decided it was time to get out in the garage.

Here are some shots of the truck from Mid-summer and the last time I made progress.

I trimmed the inner-boxsides to clear the wheels/tires, did the rest of the body drop stuff, ran my airlines, and decided to run brakequip braided/coated brake lines (it'll be an expensive experiment) and had those all built up to my specs.

I think that's about all I did since my last update.. here are the shots.

Re: Worlds Slowest Dropmember Build

Fast forward to today... I cleaned up my garage enough so I could actually do some work...

I ran my brake lines and got them installed up front enough so that I can mount the engine/trans and get the trans support positioned. I plan to do this tomorrow.

I hope to get engine/trans mounted and maybe set the cab on the frame tomorrow.

We'll see how that goes.

I took some artsy-fartsy pictures al a Delmo but unfortunately I don't have any cool speedshop eye candy in the background to really pull it off..

Anyway .. here are some shots of how things sit as of today.

very nice build sir, good to see another Albertan on the forum, quick question for you, do you think you will have any problems registering your truck in Alberta, i sent in a request for info on this but my response was very od (from the Alberta gov go fig eh!)i was basically told to build it & then see what my mechanical inspector has to say

Ya, I was told something very similar. I think the trick is to find someone that knows a custom truck friendly inspector. I don't know any up in Edmonton but I would bet any of the speed shops would be able to point you in the right direction.

I am currently just thinking that I'll deal with all of that when the time comes but not worry about it until then... :ito:

22x10 with 5.50" backspacing.

for anyone else wondering... the fronts are 20x8.5 with 5.25" backspacing

Re: Worlds Slowest Dropmember Build

Thanks for all the nice comments guys... .it keeps me motivated.

I didn't have a lot of time to work on the truck today but I did make a bit of progress.

Delmo gave me a phone tutorial on how to get the torque convertor mounted properly (I've never actually done it before) and so I mated the trans and motor... and got them all set in place. I haven't mounted the trans xmember as I need to establish the driveline angle.

I didn't have enough neighbors around to help me muscle the cab onto the chassis so I may need to get egyptian on this thing again...

Here are some pics of how it sits at current.

Well.. I appreciate the compliment... but there is some pretty stiff competition in that category and I don't think I make the short list... but thank you.

Here's my personal fave dropmember build...

Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build

My next truck... I think I will just copy superfly.. bolt by bolt.. kinda like paint by numbers...
