Thanks LS1, I thought it looked pretty good too. I wish I knew the history of this thing. The outside of the engine looks really clean as well, what would you do if you were me would you keep it ?. I talked to the guy at the wrecking yard and he said he is getting some more units in on Wednesday and Thursday, he said he should have something for me then with all the correct documentation and odometer reading. I guess if all else fails I will keep this but the only problem is I wouldnt have the correct mileage.

I'm not done with my swap but if it turns out to be a bad motor or tranny I'm going to be super crazy mad...i drove 2.5 hours to get mine as well

Thanks for the reply Dman, it does look pretty good, and nice and clean If I knew for sure on the mileage I would keep it but from the looks of it I wont know for sure. I just hope the next one I get looks as good with the right documentation as far as miles go. It would be ironic if I got a worse engine than the one I got now even if I did know the correct mileage does not necessarily mean its a better engine..kind of a coin toss I guess

I don't know what to tell you to do, like you said its a coin toss. I have a 150k mile 4.8 that looks that clean, and a 995k mile 6.0 that was so sludged up I don't think the oil was ever changed. If you go to get another one, pull the oil filler out and look at the rocker you can see, it will tell you if its had regular oil changes at least.

Spoke to the guy I got my engine from today, he says their getting a 2008 Chevy Tahoe tomorrow that has the 5.3 and 4l65e with only 38k miles, says it is not a flex fuel... I'm trying to get him to give me that one but he says they normally get $3500 for those... He said he would try and see what he could do... I'm not getting my hopes up.

Someone set the car on fire for the insurance write off... Says no damage to the front end

The 65 has internal upgrades over the 60, but don't think its all that much. Is it a 2wd? If not, I would pass on it since converting it to 2 wd would require almost a complete tear down.

Thanks Ls1, No he said it was a 2wd...but do you know if after a certain year they all went to flex fuel or was flex fuel an option ?
