True enough but the fun meter would be right down on ZERO!!

Besides IMO, it's never about the destination it's all about how ya get there. :bo2::cf::bo2::cf::bo2::cf::bo2:

Yet another modification...

Installing a flush mount gas door, so now the K5 will be that much "skinnier"

Also finished the glove box.
Cut it down to allow fit & access to the TBI wiring but still have a little something left to hold small stuff but now it's only 5" deep.

hope that when you would mount fenderflares you still be able to open the gasdoor

Fill me in, where do you see the issue?

Yeah on the skinnier, I saw some trees out there, at Raush, just waiting to rip your filler off. One even had a sign on it that said VT. haha

Dude it was awesome, 8" of packed ice. We didn't even leave a tire mark...

the door seems to be a bit near the wheelarch the door might interfere when you mount poliester flares .
its just an observation nut to put you down or anything

No, not put down at all, just trying to understand what your referring too.

The rear wheel arches will never get any kind of flare, don't need em there.

Even so, I think everything would clear.

Thanks for double checking though. :)

So kurt...when you gonna fill in the hole where the old gas tank filler neck was. When it comes time to paint the blazer?
Also, since its a F*** axle and F*** t case setup how do they mount on the frame?Stock crossmember moved back to accomodate the doubler t case or stock one in original position and another to support the set up farther back?..Sorry if thats posted a few pages back, didnt feel like reading all 5 pages:lol:

Bigger Blazer? All I see is a regular old Blazer with some big tarz.As far as rear flares go,I envision something in a tubular-type.

Read em some day when you have the time, quite the saga.
As most often happens, these trucks morph in interesting ways once the new owner takes over.

Semi correct on the gas filler neck hole, it will get fixed/finished when the flush door gets welded in and completed.
As far as paint goes...maybe next year.

It's a fairly normal 'doubler' installation with the only real difference being the drivers side drop.
The 79 era Ford axles pretty much bolt in.

Special-K, yeah it's just a regular old blazer with big tires.
It's my mall cruiser, didn't ya know?

End of the day with low light but here's a couple pics of the door install after welding and primer.

Old filler hole has been filled and primered also as you can see.

There was a Con-fer trail rack with gas cans and a spare tire mount bolted to it.

Fuel cell landed on my porch today.

Next visit to the shop will make it whole again.
*install fuel cell & bash shield (skid plate)
*finish TBI wiring to fuel pump
*finish running fuel lines down drivers side
*dump the headers for the set of vette 2.5" rams horns I recently picked up
*rework exhaust for said manifolds
*install new set of plug wires w/looms (last set for awhile with any luck)
*remove rear overload springs and replace w/zero rates to recenter the axle 1" back and allow for better flex

Yep, sure is.

Nice guy to deal with too.

This tank was kind of a custom fit but he had no problems or issue making exactly what I was hoping for as an end result.

I'll be recommending him to any & all looking for a quality fuel cell.

Tank looks great. He did the tank on my flatbed - very good to work with + he sent me pics as he built the tank.

Man that thing is awesome. How hard was it to mate the tranny to the transfer case(s)? I have a ford hp 60 just sitting in my pole barn and I may just swap that in there instead of me buying and building a chevy 60. How strong and how much do ford 205's cost compared to the chevy 205's? Will a ford 205 bolt right up to a turbo 350 or 400? I am just starting out on my 72 rebuild.

Fuel Cell Test Fit

4 Attachment(s)
Got the fuel cell in/test fit.

It's super "low pro" :hm:
Only hangs 3" below the frame rails, compared to a factory tank that hang's 7.5".

Had to grind out a chunk of the upper frame rail so the filler spout would push up through but otherwise it was an easy install.

No pics but I also got my filler neck figured out.
I used the original tubing and cut it down/ground it to fit.

Luba, returned your pm.

Nice setup, someday maybe I'll have one. Which crossmember did you have to cut? and how much?

Never mind reread the thread, answered in the text. J
