Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
When you filled your cowl did you use a single piece of steel and if so whay gauge was it for you to be able to make the roll? I have been considering the same thing but was unsure gow to go about it. Thanks.

Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
Stopped by the body shop yesterday to answer some questions about the cab. Got the latest updated pics. I can almost smell the paint now!!!
The cab is whole again with the exception of the finishing stuff. But all the metal is back in: http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1308.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1309.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1310.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1312.jpg And the bed is in primer. Yay!!!! http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1302.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1306.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1305.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1304.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_1307.jpg Oh, and its made out of metal now too!!! Hahaha. |

Darn it, I totally forgot to ask about the gauge, Stueber68. I'll try to remember to do that next time. Sorry about that. Was so excited to see the progress, it completely slipped my mind! |
Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
Rust repairs look great.
Looks like its come a long way! and the bed looks great in primor How did you fill your reflector holes in the bed? |

The body shop welded in patch panels to cover the side marker holes. The PO had done a horrible job. They welded patch panels into the back of the holes and then filled it with about an inch of Bondo. Now the plates are flushed welded in. |
Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
nice progress.... getting really close now!

Yeah, I'm getting very anxious! Thanks! |
Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
I would say looks great, but at work right now and not allowed some pics, as for the sheetmetal gauge, use 20 gauge, it is still workable and will weld nice, 18 gauge is too heavy for the cowl to try and form, and 22 is too thin.

Re: Project Where'd The Money Go
Well, its been a bit since my last update. We had a lot of winter storms around here and no one really knows how to drive in them. Needless to say, there were a lot of fender benders that kept my body shop hopping over the last couple of months....But, I'm happy to say we are nearing the home stretch! We were finally able to see what the paint color we chose is going to look like in person. Here is a before and after of the cowl. This is a teaser for us as well since this is the only part in color for now. We just wanted to confirm we had picked the right color. I think we have!
