Very nice build. Did you ever get your radiator issue worked out? There is a shop in West TN that still re-cores them.

Yes, I purchased one at O'Reilly's, it was $179+tax. It is a 3 core, has the heater hose inlet at top, curved lower water neck, and the top rail is flat, not channeled. Really a good replacement, looks like OEM. I haven't mounted it yet, looked at it, then put it back in the box. Took a pic of the label/part number if someone needs one, seems like a pretty good deal. Oh, and Thanks for that info !

Folks, I have searched for a couple of months for the heat riser on the manifold. I found one, that is the best I have ever seen in person around TN. For some reason they didn't last long, we do have salt in the winter??? But the one I have just isn't good enough for this truck! I have missed every one of them sold here. It's being a real "Hold-up" on the engine compartment!

Who's selling a good OEM aftermarket single exhaust? I have purchased the dual exhaust from LMC before, but they are not offering a single for a 350 cid. I want to buy one, fit it, then have it ceramic coated, then re- install. Thanks in adavance!

The big block and small block heat shields are different.

You are correct ! It was the only one I could find that worked! It was restored 10 years ago, then put-up and was never installed.
Thanks for the props! I'm building the doors now, been through 3 sets of door glass, can't find good tinted glass at all! Best wishes!

Here's a pic with the outside of the door finished. Haven't installed glass yet. I found both outside mirrors, both door handles, and the chrome, all still in the GM boxes/packages. Restored the vent windows, re-chromed, new rubber, handles, etc. Sure made a huge difference in the looks of the cab with the doors on.

Doh! I know they're different - I was thinking your truck had the BB. Oh well, I'll keep an eye out.

I see you're putting the trim on - what the strategy for getting all the pieces to line up?

roadracer9 03-21-2010 11:41 AM

Re: "All Out Original 72"

The door trim is the starting point, I line it all up off the doors. That trim isn't adjustable. Doors, cab corners, fenders, and then the bed. I then take tape pinstripe, run a line, and adjust the trim as needed. I have shimmed the bed and a cab a little before to get it all straight.
And please keep an eye out for the shield. Thanks !
