Re: 1978 GMC Build!
6.5 in front and about 8.5 in back. 2.5 drop spindles in the front with 1.5 coils cut and a home made flip in the back using new axle perches.

Re: 1978 GMC Build!
Okay thanks, I'm having to do a few tweaks to my truck such as get an exhaust on it, put new wires, and then I'm going to work on a drop going for a 4/6
|
Re: 1978 GMC Build!
Yea mine needs aligned and tagged LOL!! If you look in the photo, the crappy exhaust pipe is less the 1.5 inches from the ground. Will have to be fixed before driving it.

Re: 1978 GMC Build!
i'm tagged and inspected thanks to the previous owners haha, yeah I was wondering about that I kind of made the assumption that its the exhaust, but no doubt the rims look awesome on it. Guess if your planning for headers your putting some shorty's on it huh?

Re: 1978 GMC Build!
I might keep the stock manifolds and have the shop run new duel pipe and tuck them close to the floor for clearance. My transmission support has the provisions for running duel already.
|
Re: 1978 GMC Build!
oh okay, very nice, nothing wrong with keeping it stock I just like loud things so the headers were a must haha. But that an maybe a new air intake is all I can get for the motor, since its a 2 bolt main i'm scared to switch out much of anything plus I already have big plans for a little overhaul on the truck.

Re: 1978 GMC Build!
sweet deal. you can make stock load LOL my dad had a 67 el camino with stock manifolds and nice mufflers and it was loud a crap but sounded mean all at the same time
|
Re: 1978 GMC Build!
lol yeah I can, yeah well i'm planning to get a muffler to kind of balance it out, I'm actually going to go with a Cherry Bomb Vortex I like the way it sounds idles nice but when you get on it, it'll scream.
|
Re: 1978 GMC Build!
Oh yea I have heard them. They do sound nice.

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Re: 1978 GMC Build!
yes sir, but I like the progress your making on your truck keep the work up!
|
Re: 1978 GMC Build!
Thank you sir. Going way slower then planned, but hey that's why its called a budget build right? With it getting colder here it will be even slower till it warms up. Will keep all posted of progress even if it is slow at best.
|
Re: 1978 GMC Build!
I understand you there my friend, just have to stay positive and remember over time it'll become one mean machine, the best weren't built overnight thats what I keep telling myself at least lol! and yeah its getting cool down here not too crazy cold but perfect weather that I can sit inside my engine bay all day long! but come summer it'll be hotter than hell, but hopefully I'll have it in the garage by then and wont have to worry about it haha
