Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
I do alot of LSX swaps and there are several options to chose from on a/c mounting. If you look on MalibuRacing.com's forum there is a thread that talks about using the non-vortec 4.3 a/c brackets. You can still mount the short fat Harrison compressor in front of the pass side cyl head. Ive done alot of the swaps on just about any older gm pass cars. If you need any parts pm me, Ive probably got it.

Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
I planned on doing it like a another thread on here
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...350986&page=20. I think i have seen the way that you are talking about doing it. That would work great but then i would have to find the bracket and a compressor, i al ready have the compressor off the 5.3. Thanks for the info. |
Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
Yep thats what I was referring to. It is blocked here at work and I couldnt pull it up. Anytime I go to local junk yards I buy every one I find. I do the harnesses and ECMs if you need any help on it. In the past 18 months Ive done 23 swaps so its easier than most people think. Im changing my 55 post over to a blow thru set-up with a single 76mm turbo in the next few weeks. doing a twin turbo 79 Malibu wagon at the moment.

I might look at the wrecking yard when i go next week, sure would make the a/c hoses easier if i went with that 4.3 setup. |
Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
It is alot easier on the a/c hoses. You should be able to find anybody to make them up for you. Ive been a fan of high rpm small blocks for years. Now the first thing I do is jerk it out and put a LS motor in it. I hate to say it, but I have no use for a small or big block any more. Im getting ready to start on my "DURA CREW". I bought a choo choo customs 84 crew cab dually last week just for the cab and front clip. I bought a 2005 2500hd cc that was rolled over. Im putting the square cab, clip and a swb on it. Duramax and Allison.

Have you measured frame width and track widths between the two yet? |
Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
I know the frame width is like 2" wider on the '05. Ive not checked the track width yet. Im still waiting on the '05 to get here. I bought it from a buddy of mine that deals in late model trucks. He is keeping all the sheet metal and interior. Super sweet deal in it so I couldnt pass it up. Budget is going to be around $6k turn key on it.

Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
That sounds awsome i will follow your thread.
My thoughts were to get one complete and use all the interior including dash and a/c, wiring and all. Looks of he square body and ride and comfort of a late model. Good luck with the build. |

I got the harness on and started working on the wiring on Saturday.
I am using the factory underhood fuse block which only needs 3 connections to get it running. It worked out pretty nice. I also got the plumbing wrapped up today. |

Thanks guys.
Damage wasn't to bad considering how far i knocked the deer, Radiator support, new grille i just installed, lights front of the right fender and a/c condesor. Good news is i have been wanting to change it to suburban front, just not this way. Besides i am suppose to be working on Clifford. So here are some pics with the new front. It needs a new grille and hl trim. |
Re: crew cab short bed build " clifford"
Man I love those front ends! It looks great! This style front end parts are getting pretty hard to find used any more.
