I got a day off work and could not wait on the snow to melt so I pulled the donor around to the front of the shop. :metal:

Started looking for all the rust. I have 2 cabs and both have rust in different places so I am trying to decide which cab to use for the build.:uhmk:

If one has structural rust to pillars, or floor braces and the other is more or less just sheet metal, I would go with the sheet metal.
Just a couple cents worth of opinion man.... :metal:

my two cents says… if the other roof seam is good, that's the one, but I gotta agree with Murph…

Re: Newbie with a 65 Chevy

Thanks for the two cents. I need lots of that. I will post pics tomorrow of both of the cabs and their rust. You guys can take a look at them and tell me what you think.

Re: Newbie with a 65 Chevy

Best take a metal rod to poke with too.... better to find bad rust that way, than when your wire wheeling grinder jumps out of your hands and disappers into a hole it just made in a rust pocket.....

Not that I have any experience with that mind you.... and not that I would squeal like a little girl if it did happen to me..... but if it did....

Well, you get the picture :metal:

Blue cab has bad cab corners looks like it was in a wreck.

What do you think?

Ta2Don 02-13-2014 10:40 PM

Re: Newbie with a 65 Chevy

Decisions, Decisions…
I would evaluate the structural integrity of them both and go for the best…

Looks like the Cab corners from the red one could be donors for the damage on the blue one...

Drooled over that one but finances wouldn't allow, not to mention my wife would've been kicking me outside with the dog...

Thought I'd help you out and re-post this for ya...

Re: Newbie with a 65 Chevy

Thanks. I sent that one from the phone and I guess I had it turned when I posted it. I still have not figured out how to edit pic after I post. I am hoping the cab looks as good when I start removing it.
