@ Francisco - I was in the shop a couple times since I wrote the last time and never remembered to look at the plan. Here is what I can remember in the "Master Plan": You could change the Heater wire to look like picture #1 and maybe tell me what the wire is in picture #2. Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
18 is the wire guage and T is Tan. Itīs not the wire for the dimmer switch.
It is just not logical the way the wire is. Is starts on the firewall and ends on the firewall and is not part of any curcuit. @ Drew - Nice collection you got there! Thanks for hosting the diagrams for and from Francisco! Here are the direct download links from Drew: Master Plan Engine & Front Lights Rear Lighting Bulkhead #1 (Cab) Bulkhead #2 (Cab) |
Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Hi blukangoo me again!!!
It seems that something is missing in that 18 gaugge tan wire, Im going to check the assembly manual to modify that mistake, if there exists. As soon I check it I will send you the diagram.. Nice observation, the wiring digrama is every day better. Francisco Quote:

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Great post.
I can remember years ago I posted an AutoCAD version of the 67-72 schematic. (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=232796) (Not sure if the links are still working  ) But these PDF's are great to have. Thanks for posting them! Cya, Edmond Dutch Longhorn 8) |
Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
The wiper motor wiring is incorrect on the above diagrams.
The single connector is 1 black wire that goes to the wiper switch. The yellow power wire goes to one connector (washer) and then jumpers to the wiper motor. |
Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Do you still have these documents in hi-res? There is an awful shortage of wiring diagrams like this, even in my vehicle specific repair manual. This is awesome. If you still have them, could you send to actconstructiononline@yahoo.com ? Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work. People need diagrams for these old vehicles that have been cobbled together real bad over the years.

If you look at the post #163 you will see links to all of the diagrams. If you download the hi-rez version you'll have a nice big file that you can print out on two regular pages or a legal size. Good luck! |
Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
1 Attachment(s)
I have purchased a replacement ignition switch connector (pigtail) from BWD. It has 10 wires coming out of it, but not in the same places as these diagrams. The original one was damaged and missing wires when I got the truck, so I have no point of reference here. The connector body and holes are identical, just don't have the same wires in them. Does anybody have a switch diagram maybe, or know what to make of this? I've attached a crude sketch.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Okay, so I just went and looked at a different brand replacement. It matches the pinout I posted yesterday. What gives? Are these wiring diagrams wrong, or is there something I'm missing here about the replacement part. I know somebody out there has replaced their ignition switch harness. HELP :waah:

Are you using part number PT298 the colors are not correct on your connector (the diagram is correct) but will still work below is a pic from BWD website for part number PT298 with the correct color code. Note the purple and brown wires.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

Yes, but... Here's the problem... The one on the left is the one from the diagram. The one on the right is the one I have. Also, the diagram does not actually show enough prongs for the connector. Even the factory connector has two prongs on the left.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Okay, so the extra red wire is a way to wire something up that you want to always have power, in run, accy, off, and start. Such as??? Load limits?? Effects on the rest of the system?? The two purple wires on the diagram go on the SOL tab, second from left (the one you can't see on the diagram). The brown wires are correct (ACC). And the rest looks good. So, in other words, other than being a bit vague, the diagram IS correct. On a side note, nice work on the diagrams. If all that's true, then the wire that's missing goes to the "NFW Safety switch". Excuse my ignorance, but is that another way of saying Neutral Safety Switch (NSS)?? If that's the case, then awesome, because my truck never had one. Am I getting too far off topic here? I've been told I thread jacked already, so I'm trying to learn some online etiquette. Enough questions yet???

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Toejam, the bottom wire seems to be a double of the wire that has the fusible link on it from the battery. Look where the power wire splits into four wires. One of those wires is supposed to have a fusible link on it and doesn't. They go the same place. I think the wire on the top is the same deal. It's trying to show the two wires with fusible links on them, but instead of showing it on the proper wire, the wires have been duplicated.

Took a few pics today...
The fuse at the battery connection Attachment 1347740 and the alternator junction (yes, I'm modifying it to add elec. fans) Attachment 1347741 and the back of the fuse block Attachment 1347742 All I really want to know is what do they feed????? |
Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
Those wires are for the factory ammeter

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
fixit-p---Thank you! Thank you!:clap::clap:
never thought it would be that hard to figure out. Just something that was driving me crazy. Not that that's hard to do. |
Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED
1 Attachment(s)
Yes, the two fuses are for the Ammeter so don't mess with them. Your diagram isn't complete all the way way to the dash or you would probably have found where they went. If one or both of the fuses burn out, the gauge will not work.
That is not the best place to pick up your 12 Volts. The red wire that goes from there back over to the battery is already serving as the Alternator charging wire and provides the shunt for the ammeter. It doesn't need you tying accessories onto it. I would recommend replacing that single pin insulated junction next to the battery. That one is to small and probably ready to crumble into 40 year old dust. That is where you should tie in your new accessories, next to the battery. A lot of guys replace the original insulated post with one from a S10 and that is very similar to what you will find in a flaps. If you have a lot of accessories you could use two S10 posts. One would hold the battery wire and all original wires. A jumper from there to a second S10 post that would hold all of the new accessories. I found a small fuse box with a large post on the bottom to hold all of the original wires. The fuses feed the various accessories as well as some relays in the corner. In case you were wondering the radiator over-flow bottle is from a '70s Nova. |
