10/4 I thought it was a different set. You may have your 20x12's by the time I need any. My son is only 12!

Nice truck and a great set of additions. I like the fact that you made it usable as a truck again and yet maintained all the go fast goodies. A true dual purpose vehicle.
I take it you are done in New Mexico and back in Florida permanently.
Quite a change I bet. Nice picture with the family, now I know why you are building a Suburban and a Crewcab!
Thanks for keeping us in the loop with your builds, they are top notch!

I am considering converting my 72 long bed to 3/4 ton since I need a good tow vehicle. I have the HO52 (4.56 or 4.11 I have both) and front disc spindles, calipers, hubs and LCA's.

Plan is 350 4bbl, 700R4, HO52 with disc brake conversion and a 14 bolt Detroit Locker, 8 lug disk brake front end conversion. I will probably leave the 1/2 ton springs in it and use 265/75x16 tires on late model Chevy aluminum wheels and caps. Air bags or factory add on leaf overloads in the rear to handle toungue or load weight.

Looking at the rear axle I am figuring a 3.20 overall ratio in OD if I use 4.56's and 2.90 if I use 4.11's. Probably only a couple hundred RPM difference at 70-75 cruise speeds. If I use the 4.56's I'll have a lot of low end grunt to get stuff moving.

Final consideration is a Blazer tank in the rear between the frame rails, with the filler behind the tailight or side marker and move the step bumper up, by replacing the S bracket with straight stock and running the receiver hitch through the bumper to the rear crossmember.

I see in your vehicles you have gone away from 8 lug to lighter running gear but for me and the way I use my vehicles I prefer the beef of the 3/4 ton running gear and brakes.

It would not surprise me if the S-10 and the 68 weigh within a couple hundred pounds of each other. I personally give the edge to the 68 being lighter.

Thanks for the post and the props, :). I just like having the options to swap wheels back and forth. I don't plan on working any of them to hard, :D.

I'm guessing the 68 will probably weigh around 3400, I'm going to check the next time I'm over near the scales. I think I can take him.......:D.

Thanks! The tag fits the truck perfectly, now if I could only find an aluminum camp shell to go on it.........:D.

I pulled the valve covers to change the gaskets and snapped a shot of the goodies underneath, :metal:.

I would love to drop a Paxton or similar on LowBuck but it would require way too much money to redo the computer system. I have Painless's kit and it is not end user friendly at all. They want another $800+- just for the software to unlock the ECU. So I think I might just need to wait and put a Mag'y on the Tahoe:lol:

If you're right foot is like mine and you put a S/C on LOBUCK, you'll ruin your gas mileage.....:D. Besides, I think you're money would be better spent on the Tahoe, ;). That's going to be the "circuit truck" and you'll end up with a better ROI.....:metal:.

Man an old aluminum Gem Top with the green plastic side windows would be perfect! I wish I could remember how heavy they were though, a lot of people put racks on the top of them. I know they are pretty strong.

can't seem to find those rear wheels in a 6" backspace... only 5.5 then jumps to 6.5" .... I better do some more digging

I've been looking, but still haven't been able to locate one.

I have the wider rearend (71/72), if you have a 67-70, the 5.5 would work, but if I were you, I would go with the 6.5 BS. This will give you some extra room if you decide to go real low.

Just read the whole thread, really nice job!! IMO, the Welds look way better than the Coys on this truck. They fit the vibe better. I love the color combo, and the interior came out great. Is that a roots set-up on an LS engine in the burb? Sweet!! Can't wait to see more...

It's got a Magnacharger in it. I finally got some paint on the burb and picked up a new steering wheel for the 68. Here's some pics

I left PA for the south, there seems to be room for us car nut Yankees down here. Then you won't have to worry (well maybe once before you die) about 5" of snow.:ito:

I will more than likely move south once the kids are out of the house (14 years from now!) That will more than likely be my time to retire as well...
