Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Latest Hot Rod magazine has an article on that. I can't imagine how much that must have cost.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
That guy in the video is nuts.lol I like to be around people with that kind of enthusiasm about cars. That guy reminds me of myself and when it comes to hotrods.lol Thats BC Toy chest's twin when it comes to engines. He is nuts just like that guy about engines.lol

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
They asked him why he did it, he said "Because I can". Must be nice to have the money, time, facilities, and SKILL to do things like that. He's building a truck to put it in.

Besides criticism, the other hazard of being apart of the car & truck hobby/enthusiast, is having a passion for cars and trucks and getting treated like a Red headed step child when you go to some of the crusie nites and you may not own a classic /muscle car/ street rod. I like Kabwe's attitude about that, lol. He says, "I should be able to ride up here on a Damn bicycle and be just as passionate about cars as the next guy". A guy that had snubbed Kabwe at a cruise night all of a sudden wanted to talk to Kabwe when he saw his '55 Chevy Belair. Kabwe told him forget you, You didn't want to talk to me when I was asking you questions about your car. The guy felt pretty small coz he knows Kabwe was right. One time this guy drove his pro street truck up to the same place and parked next to my truck and people treated him differently, criticised his truck because of how he built it, then your rat rod crowd wants to talk about the people that use billet and the guy with the fully restored 1976 Dodge Aspen gets laughed at coz most people would not see that as a classic or a muscle car. I remember years ago an editor of Super Chevy wrote about the snobs of the car hobby and how they should watch what they say. He told the story of how this guy and his wife left the show early in their fully restored Nomad because they were discouraged by all of the " you should of done it this way , or you don't do it like that" Well wonder of wonders, when trophy time came their car won but they didn't know it coz a handful of know it alls nit picked them to death. Well like Kabwe said, "I should be able to ride up here on a Damn bicycle and be just as passionate about cars as the next guy":lol:. OHHH here is a pic of my Nomad Hot Wheel with the redline tires. |

HAHA Wow those rydes make muscle cars & our stuff, look tame and whimppy, lol. It's amazing what deep, deep pockets and a little bit of imagination can do. Now, that owner of the '55 Chevy with the Merlin engine, may have gotten his inpiration from, Ed Wood's 12 cylinder 1,710 cid Allison powered '64 Chevy Malibu back in the early 70s. Here are some pictures from my Flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/7552532...in/photostream

I know I said I was going to post some pictures of the bed coming off but I got side tracked with some other stuff I'm gradually working my way to the back I got caught up with some work under that dash and some electrical work and attacking some rust and old body filler. On the panels and parts I take down to the bare metal I am using (SPI) Southern Polyurethanes Inc. Epoxy primer, it's gr8 stuff to use. Then I top coat it with my PCL high fill polyester primer. |

Attacking some rust and old body filler that was slathered on one of the fenders and they used so much filler they pluged a hole without doing any metal work. They just contoured the filler to the shape of the metal lol. The previous owners.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Is that RED LEAD than your top coating the body filler with?? My question dates me I'm sure but back in the day that stuff didn't srink & stretch very well. Is it something new fangled??
Thanks. Ratty 46 |

It fills in small imperfections, scratches & pinholes in body filler. It doesn't require much and what you see in the picture most of that is sanded away. I have never had any problems with the stuff. If you try to use a lot like it was a regular filler it will shrink and stretch and pull away. RED LEAD is probably another name for it. I don't know. I know the other pictures of the fender have nothing to do with what you asked me , lol. I forgot to put them up:lol: Thy are just a continuation of the last pic. of all the bondo being removed and bad metal being cut out from the front fender, gona make a patch and weld up that hole. |

It's just an inanimate object , I know, I know. We came into this world naked and we can't take anything with us when we leave. But I see these pictures a friend recently sent me of an accident at a cruise night and think to myself, we spend all this time making our rydes better and it just takes a few seconds for a nut holding the wheel to destroy it. If that were my Pontiac, I probably would cry. I want to know how did she manage to do this in a parking lot. How fast was she traveling to even do this. When I got the e-mail it said , " PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS PHOTOSHOPPED" |

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
OMG that would make me absolutely sick!! How does anyone manage that??? Good thing is was a woman, if it were a guy the wreck probably wouldn't be the worst of the drivers injuries. That body is totally destroyed.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
That just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Your right about just being objects. At least the owner of that Pontiac wasn't inside of it, let alone any of his family or buddies in the passenger seat. One thing about these old cars is that there aint no airbags and high tech safety features like that Lexus that bagged em. I’m not even going to mention any of the stereotypical remarks about the driver...

That is enough to make you sick, especially if it was your car that you put your heart and soul into.

Well the picture of the driver explains it all. I think that person in the reflection is the owner cause they look hysterical. Nice Le Mans but at least it wasn't a GTO!?

I don't know why but for some reason the rear cross sill was welded on to the side bed panels. I thought it was suppose to be like that coz before I just moved the bed around as one unit, But now that I am breaking everything down that is not convenient. So from here on out it will be like every other truck a bolt on piece. So I just cut and popped the welds.
