Re: Lets see your truck!
"nice truck......... is that a 8' bed ?"
This is a T-14 3/4 ton originally. And it has the extra long bed. 14" longer than a chevy short bed, 4" longer than a chevy long bed. I started to cut it down several times but the thought of having something different won over the thought of correct proportions. I plan on rolling it out in the spring with the GMC front end much to some saying that the front end is ugly. I like it to be different. There's not another one around that I have laid my eyes on. Lot's of short bed chevy's. |

its one of the coolest designs from the thirties - hands down. To me the so called "art Deco" bulbulous grills from 41 up is whats ugly, There is no more art deco anything automotive than a 37-8 gmc grill, They can be done like a volume control---turned down or all the way up! |

Re: Lets see your truck!
tuckeez, I agree wqith you completely. I don't care much for the 41-46 front ends either. I can't wait to get the GMC front end on my truck. I have tried a few different paints to try to match the natural rust but not having much luck. I may just have to paint it a flat black and roll on. Or I could do with what I did to the chevy grill. It was Blue before I put it on the truck. I wire wheeled it and let it rust naturally.

Re: Lets see your truck!
Just realized I never posted a picture of mine. '46 with MII, 350 TBI/700R4.
It's been my daily driver for 10+ years now. Building the back-up truck now. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Photo0100.jpg Rob |

I wish! No room. A parallel crashes into the inner wheel house skirting on the upper bar and a triangulated 4 crashes into the fuel tank. Sure, I could cut up the Suburban ( waaaay different than a truck from the B pillar back) inner panels or relocate the fuel tank then fill the body hole and refinish the side, but I wanted to have the least amount of collateral damage with the most drop mechanically possible. The tires are housed in outer fenders and can only go so low unless the fenders are moved up on the body and lower fenders are fabricated to match up with the boards. Chizzler did some of this on his truck build. So far sitting in my garage are A tri 4 link system, a parallel 4 link system, 2 different watts links and a 68 c-10 crossmember with trailing arms and adjustable pan hard. It's tough to visualize all of these when laying in bed on the computer and the burb 35 miles away at work :( I ended up using some rock crawl world parts, some home brew stuff, firestone bags and a V2 Airlift system. The pan hard bar is 42" long and has a pair of 2-5/8" Johnny joints that are bushed, rebuildable and crazy flex. The 2 link bars are 44" long and have Dodge 1 ton bushings up front with the rears welded to spring plates. I am using a 2inch block ontop of these. I will get some pics once the paint dries. |

Thanks Newfisher. My daughter wanted a 'retro rural' wedding theme - so I did up this truck and a 1948 john deere D for her wedding pics - got me out of a lot of boring decorating :) :)

She's not exactly a truck, but she's mine. Its a 1967 Chevy C50 school bus converted into an RV, aka, a schoolie. Or a Skewlie as I like to call it. Its been in the family for about 40 years. I used to sleep in the cupboard when I was little. I just recently got it from my Dad, now its time to bring her into the 21st century.

Yes the camper is homebuilt . A friend made it about 15yrs ago , he had a '37 Chev then.
After that he had a '46 and the camper saw use there . I was camping in my truck one summer (in the canvas canopy) and we had 2" rain over night . The bed got wet and I had had enough. Mean time , my friend has bought and rebuilt a lovely '59 Apache and the camper doesn't fit................ Yep , straight 'round to his place I go :) . |

Re: Lets see your truck!
Our (early) 1947 GMC just arrived yesterday from Arizona!
Camaro front clip and rear end. Disc brakes, tubular A-arms. Fuel inj chevy 350, AC, a few other little things here and there. Plans include wooden bed kit, wheels and tires, possible interior redo, and redoing the running boards in grey. If anyone has any help or sources for those things, let me know. Thanks! http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...psdmlhdcif.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...pszk3yient.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps3otay0bq.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...pskkdblsry.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...pseekntjhe.jpg |
