I want to let the clear cure a little longer before applying the tailgate letters.

Just need to put the windshield and back glass in it, install the seat, do a little wiring and top off the fluids and it should be on the road. That, and a couple days of cutting and buffing. Apparently I reached the pinnacle of my spraying technique on my last truck as this one has been a struggle getting a satisfactory finish straight off the gun.

Very nice work!
Huge amount of progress in a short amount of time.
Sorting out the fit on the hood is great to see , I took note of how the rear brace and hood skin needed to be separated , pulled out, and welded back.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely my hardest critic.

Forgot to mention this, but the bed went together very nicely. It was a lot of work getting the factory sheet metal straight, but it all lines up so well. No hole stretching, cutting, or welding.

I had a few hours yesterday to work on the truck. We decided to try our hand at glass install and it wasn't too bad. We tried 3 or 4 times on the windshield before finding a technique that worked for us. We had been trying to get the top edge and corners in as far as we could upon setting the glass in the opening and then pushing the bottom in and starting with pulling the string there, but we couldn't even get the rubber to contact the pinch weld when we approached it that way. So on the last and successful attempt we just set the glass flat in the opening and started at the bottom middle, pulling about 10" at a time and alternating directions and eventually got it. It was a bit of a struggle to get the upper corners in, some patience and a windshield stick got us there. We used soapy water on the first try but it really didn't help. The back window went in on the first try.

So for anyone out there considering doing it, you just need two people, small rope, and some patience. We saved $200 doing it ourselves but we also spared the hassle of trailering it to the glass shop on a weekday and learned a new skill.

Man, this one is getting close. Is your plan to sell this truck?

So close. But yes, we will be selling this one. It's just a hobby for us and we don't need another one of this body style.

Nice job on doing the glass yourselves!
That black paint looks so good, really looking forward to seeing more pics , and pics of the truck outside!

We have a runner! A couple weeks ago we filled the fluids, installed the seat, and took it on its maiden voyage. The Flowmaster mufflers we put on sound much better than the glasspacks it came with, the rear gear swap improved the driving experience significantly, and everything works. As difficult as it is to make a black paint job look good, we're glad we went with black. Also happy with the choice in seat cover - it really looks great in the cab and finishes off the truck.

We installed a temperature switch in the driver side head to serve as a ground trigger for the fans and it works great. The fans come on when they're supposed to and it cools down quick with the 4-core radiator and dual fans.

At this point, we have some imperfections in the clear coat to fix and apply the tailgate letters and do some more test driving and it will be ready for a new owner in the next month or so.

Thanks guys. We have a 93 RCSB (regular cab short bed OBS) eagerly awaiting its time in the shop. The engine is already back from the machine shop ready for assembly. This build, like other builds, has been fun but we're excited to start on a newer, different body style truck. This one will be forced induction.

Beautiful truck! I’d be curious where you land on an asking and sale price. I have a very similar truck that I’m wrapping up and will be on the market about the same time

Very nice! Truly a great looking truck. Well done.
I’m curious about the fans, maybe I missed it in a earlier post, what are they? I know you have recommended Spal fans in the past. Just taking a few notes , as I will need to buy a large single fan or perhaps the dual fan set up in the near future.

Thank you!

They are Maradyne Jetstreme dual 12" fans that came with the truck when we bought it. They seem to work well and operate fairly quiet. I have the same size fans on my 68, but they are Spals and are a little louder.

The truck is about to go up for sale. We put new lifters in it but it took a couple months to get them and we've been putting some miles on it to make sure everything is working.

Truck is looking so good! The body work is so straight, black shows everything, and this truck shows the time and effort you put in, in order to achieve a great result !

Thanks guys. We're hoping to sell it for a good amount. We put more work and money into it than we planned, but glad we did and we think it's a nice driver.

Well the time has come to put the truck on the market. We've put about 500 miles on the truck since finishing it along with tinting the windows and installing new gauges and it's ready for a new owner.

It will be bittersweet to see it go - it's really fun to drive. The 383 makes a lot of torque and it rides so much nicer than my 68. Not surprising as this truck has drop spindles instead of cut springs, coils instead of leaves, more sidewall, and a cushy bench seat instead of modern buckets.

Too many trucks, not enough time. We've been working on the 93 OBS as parts come in, been waiting on a bellhousing for a few months now. Also recently bought a 78 K20 that we've been fixing up.

Potter! Truck looks great. This is why I know I couldn't build them to flip as I would want to keep them all. Will be hard to see her go, but the market is fantastic and you should do really well on that gem.

Thanks! It's a good thing we didn't LS swap it or we may have ended up keeping it. I'm not sure the market here will support what we're trying to get out of it, but we will give it a couple weeks and then look at Bring a Trailer.
