Thanks for that.

OH, I pulled the rear axle from an S10 this morning. 95 degrees and 96% humidity. Gregski fun factor of 1! But I got it in the truck.

You sure that’s not on the negative fun factor scale??

If getting light headed and having to sit down in the sun to recompose myself, then it may well be on the negative scale!

Russian Judge agrees it's definitely on the Negative Fun Factor Scale aka the NFFS

Bro I've been there whilst liberating a set of Vortec cylinder heads by my lonesome once in the heat, it is super dangerous, heat stroke, dehydration, I would actually loose function in my hands and fingers and have to stop and rest, and I was a super fit healthy man at the time. Glad those days are over.

so it's Pay Day and I just ordered most of my suspension parts off of Rock Auto, and I was literally just about to save a $100 bucks (by going with them instead of Amazon) when this happened

yup they won't ship these silly Goodmark $7 dollar rubber upper control arm bumpers to California and Amazon wants $24 bucks each for the same ones

Welcome to my World! I can't wait to retire and move out of this once Golden State.

Man that sucks!
I feel your pain. Sort of. Not from an everyday living there level but having traveled there many many times for work and always wanting to live there in theory because of the wonderful weather and geography but just couldn’t do it because of the nonsense.
Such potential but such a waste. :banghead:

Re: A '54 named Busty

Ship them to someone else in a free state?

The double shipping could make it just as expensive though I suppose.

the first one was a major PIA but before you tell me I am doing it wrong, let me point out that it may be difficult to see in the pics but the bushing on this side was flared on both ends so there was no way to press it out in one direction as one piece (as seen on TV, ha ha), so I had to split it and push it East and West

we are dealing with 40 year old parts not your 2014 Honda Civic (kidding you import owners)

Note: I use a piece of half pipe as a shimmy to ensure the control arm ends retain their integrity, Semi Pro baby Semi Pro !

and of course as soon as I spent half an hour ranting about the first bushing to Pontiac Mike on the phone, the second one popped out in 30 seconds flat

so three hours later I got the bushings out of the two lower control arms and one upper, so we're averaging one Control Arm Per Hour or 1 CAPH which is all about to change as it's beer thirty and lunch time now (so the last one will take no more than three days!)

and I am 93% sure I did not bend the ends inward like that as I swung the 3 lbs mallet with surgical precision, Pontiac Mike tells me the uppers tend to do that at times making it a bear to press the new ones in - we shall see about that

man it was an all day battle, I had to cut the finger off the ball joints on the lower control arms cause the Honda C clamp wasn't big enough for the GM part, imagine that!

and the fun continued, I literally broke my work bench with the vice on it trying to unscrew one side of this upper control arm (thank you Home Depot for your Hecho En Mexico saw horses, they lasted one year)

here I show you how well I clean, lube and prep the threads prior to extradiction

Fun factor negative FFN, but well worth the results. It will be so much easier to keep clean now.

thank you and thank you all for keeping me in high spirits, making me laugh, and placing your foot in my posterior as needed

yes I am doing everything I can this morning to postpone the three things we need to do today, primarily the last two:

1. return the ball joint puller kits and git our $250 duckets back (that buys a lot of chewin' tobacco, jk)

2. clean the rest of them parts

3. see number #2 above, ha ha

As someone suggested have them shipped to another address and then back to you. If need a volunteer, I will be your huckleberry :)
