Have you test fit the engine with the York in your frame? Looks like it might hit the frame....

I did take measuremements. In my set-up it will be very close to the upper control arm bushing but yes it should fit. Remember my motor sits higher above the frame rail than anyone elses.

Oh yeah
I didn't realize it sat that much higher...

The York looks great there, too bad we all can't put it there.

Three-deuces and a serp, very cool! Nice job on the York mount and pulleys.

Do York's have to be mounted vertically like you have it or could it be 90 degrees left or right too? Seems like every York I have seen mounted is vertical does that have to do with the internal oiling?

From everything I have read they can be mounted either way and I initially planned on laying it horizontal, but then if you think about the oil laying in the crankcase portion of the thing, just laying there on it's side it seems to me the oil would tend to leak past the piston and into the chambers. In my mind vertical is the best way so this can't happen.

Re: Cross Member Drop?

Finally got money in my pocket, drawing of the bed sides I need and Half of a rear fender in my truck ready to drop off at the sheet metal shop today to get everything I need for the stretched step side bed and fenders. Wouldn't you know it, they're closed on Friday's. Looks like it will be Monday before I can get this stuff underway. Dang it!

Plan is since I have to go to the shop to buy the new metal sheet anyway, why not just let them bend it for me too since they've got the equipment. So I will get brand new bed sides which is simply flat sheet with a 90 degree bend and then a roll at the top. Then for the fenders I cut one of mine in half and I'll let them bend me a pair of 32" long panels which match the cross section of the fender half that I give them. Then all I have to do is weld in the extension panels and the fenders will be done. I'll remove the stock stake pockets from my old bed and weld then to the new bed sides and they will be basically done as well.

I can't wait!

I did drop off my "order" at the sheet metal shop Monday. Waiting to ge the phone call that it's ready to pick up then I can get back into metal work. That beats body work any day!

I'm hoping today might be the day, but I wont know till the phone rings. You can't push these guys of it will cost you double. Whenever they work it in is fine by me.

I finally now have the sheetmetal for the new longer bedsides and fender extensions. The hardest part is finally off to a really nice start. I only had enough time this weekend to weld up one of the fenders but it went really well...

Wow those are some nice looking pieces that you had made......nice job welding it up too. Those look like they would be a real b***h to make.

Wow! Did you make those pieces? They fit great.

BTW...I picked up a set up of those shorty headers a few weeks ago. I test fit them and it looked like it might be a tight fit hooking them up to the exhaust because the headers come close to the crossmember. Thoughts?

No I had a local sheet metal shop bend them for me. They also bent new bed sides for me. The bed sides are 9'-4" long. They could not do the roll on the tops of the bedsides, so I will be welding a stick of round tubing there instead to finish them off.

On the headers, Mine won't be hard to hook up at all with a tight radius bend. I honestly haven't looked at that very hard because it doesn't look like it will be a problem for me. In a stock application I don't know.

Re: Cross Member Drop?

Both fenders are now stretched and I built one bedside today. Goal is to have the bed basically together and maybe sitting on the truck by end of the weekend. We'll see.

Also got 4 new air bags ordered along with a long skinny 5 gallon air tank that will go behind the rocker panel outboard of the frame rail on passenger side. Should be here by end of week.
