Hey Big Head, very cool build. I have a couple questions for you. I have never driven a truck with that type of suspension. Up here in Manitoba Canada we can't lift a truck any higher than 4" with 39" tires unless the GVW is over 10,000lbs. For on road applications anyway.
I am building a 71 C30 right now but it's going to stay a 2wd hauler. I am going to build a monster to play with with my boys out of another 14000lb gvw c30. I am going to run 54s, rockwells etc.. My question is this. I am going to run it on the road as well. Would the type of suspension you are using handle well for on road use as well or do you think I should just stick with leafs?
Thanks man and once again great build.

Richard

Leafs are alot cheaper and stiffer. The four link suspention will ride better and you get more wheel travel. The way I built my suspention would be very dangerous on the road. My lower bars are wider at the axle than they are at the frame. What this does is makes the axles walk. If the right front wheel hits a bump and goes up the wheel base on the left side shortens or vise versa. To keep this from happening you need to make your lower bars parallel to the ground. The two lower bars on each axle also need to be parallel to each other.

I have spent the last hour looking over some builds here on the board. I find myself wanting my truck done. Not to enjoy it, but so I can start another project. Guess I like 67-72's. Not a bad thing, I could like FORDS.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Another view of the future tires. My wife saw a truck with 44 boggers this week end and said those are to small. So i told her that was the same tire we have on our truck. She could not beleive it. She said ours look huge, Maybe I'll get some of these out of it.

Re: 72' Stepside 2 1/2 Rockwell Pond Truck

I want tractor tires like that but the ones that are 36in od and whats with newer trucks build like that. Can u drive them on the street? And I think those 44 boggers look pretty small with your suspension being so big, like my uncles ford with his 54s as seen

Forgot to say the rockers mess up at 50 miles, and it took a few days to fix. so hes been trying to sell it to buy a chevy!:metal:
