The T-56 is the same length as the 4L60E so the shifter should be within the high hump tunnel area.

The trans in the pic below is a 4L60E.

The worst thing you would need is an offset shifter handle to push the lever forward away from the front of the seat a little.

PERFECT! someone doing the same engine/trans swap as I am... in current day. I watch a couple build threads only to realize they are 5-6 years old. LOL definitely keeping up on this one

Thanks for asking..
It has been just over a year since I started the build. The wheels and tires are mounted and its finally on the ground. I completed the front end with a new power steering box and tie rod ends.

I have been stripping the doors and hood in preparation for primer. Luckily, the front clip is clean with no rust and very little body work needed. I have been contemplating on switching the front clip for a 67 grill but have decided to stay with the GMC double head light front grill.

Thanks for the input.. I do know choosing to go with the polyurethane has its pro and cons. Hopefully my engine will be louder than the squeak - LOL .

I appreciate all of the compliments! This board keeps me motivated!

Man, You have kicked tail on this build in only a year. I wish I could keep up with ya. Your sheetmetal looks great. Keep up the hard work.

1 question, how do you plan on painting the cab underside? I am almost to this point and wonder what the best order? I was thinking about painting the bottom firewall and interior before mounting on the frame. Then paint the panels before assembly.

I plan on pulling the cab off the frame and paint it on Jack stands. This worked well when I stripped and primer-ed the cab. I was able to prime it all at once. I also plan on removing the engine and transmission one more time. I am not sure of the condition of the clutch, flywheel and throw-out bearing. Thanks

Sounds like a plan to me. So have you decided on what kind and color paint yet?

How do you like the F-body accessory drive? I like how clean it looks over the other OEM options, and I would be interested how it fits

I like the way you did the rear brake line through the frame. Did you build that?

^^^ what he said. Also what motor mounts are those and did you have to modify the frame for the motor to set in there???

I see that you used CPP tubular engine frame mounts but what adaptor plates did you use on the block? Are those Poly motor mounts? Compared to stock location, where does the engine site? Forward, back, higher, lower? How far off the firewall. And last and not least. Howd you squeeze the A/c pump in there? Are you going to have enough room to run the lines? Or are you going to have to do some frame trimming? I am at this point in my build and want to pull the trigger on parts but still dont know what the correct combination of parts are to make it all work. Any and all info is much appreciated. Keep up the awesome work!!!!!!:metal:

I haven't decided on color. I am using Dupont products.

I thought it looked cleaner than the other options. It was more challenging getting the engine exactly where I wanted it. I did trim less than 1/2" on the inside of the frame rail between the core support and front A-arms to help clear the A/C pump. This should allow me room for the lines and not effect the integrity of the frame.

Adapter plates are also from CPP part#CPLS1-K. comes with the plate, poly mount and hardware. I moved the engine back around 2" from the stock location. This helped with the oil pan clearing the front cross member and filling in the gap between the firewall and the rear of the engine.

I made no modifications to the frame or brake lines except for shortening the rear lines before entering the Wilwood calipers.

Very nice build, glad to see you chose a color other than black for the frame and suspension. I'm running the same drive train in my 72 SS Nova build and have the same model wheels, except that mine are grey centers. Great minds think alike:lol:. I'm leaning towards powder coating my frame a similar color, maybe the differentials also. Keep the pic's coming, looks great.
