The front cowl metal was so stretched that the only real option was to cut it out, straighten it, flap disk the sides, (to make it fit again) and weld the piece back in.
We’ll have to do the same on the drivers side

I think it looks killer!

We cut the hole for the AC lines to enter the cab
we will put "door edge guard” on the steel edge, we couldn’t find an appropriate grommet
This shows that all 4 hoses fit through
We spent some time figuring out what ends we needed, had to order 45s for the top.

We also got the corner of the cab nearly there
And did bodywork to the upper cowl
Laid the initial coat of filler

First we took that vent out
Then we worked on the upper cowl
as you can see, it’s looking pretty darn good!

Next we ironed out the dents on that passenger cab corner
a final fill, and she’s razor straight
then on to the headlight bezels
we have the basic look, now to braze metal from the stock bezel to the harley one
Then we stripped and cut down the inners (the cut for the A-frame will happen later)

we finally figured out the AC bracket
But we will be unable to paint the alt and compressor engine color. We are unable to get the alternator casing apart for paint.
We also pulled the chassis in the shop
Put on the spacers and wheels, this thing is gonna look killer!

so the right upper cowl is ready for paint, but we found a dent in the beltline we’ll need to address
The left upper cowl had a high spot that required bodywork and another fill as well as a small dent in the beltline

There is a little book called the key to metal bumping. It is a short read and worth the time. Maybe help you with those little high and low spots. A shrinking disc is also a great tool if you have some time to practice.

There was body damage where the mirror was bolted do
as well as a dent from door hyperextension
so we cut out the damaged metal, straightened, recurved, and welded it back in
And here’s a link to a video of us melting the lead in the seam https://www.facebook.com/olesarge201...01162355536046

I still have lead spray spots on my garage door from removing the lead from my 57 roof drip rail. I though I would heat it and give it a shot of air. Yeah, not doing that again lol.

And the compressor came in, so we cleaned, painted, and installed
The new tensioner and knock sensors came in, so we installed them too
and finally we stripped the gas tank, driveshaft, and wiring from the chassis. Tomorrow we start rebuilding the front suspension!

Yeah, I don’t think air would not be a great idea!

OK, I have to admit I've been dilatory in checking out the links you provide. Today I went to your Facebook and ".com" links to check things out.

VERY NICE!

If I can ever get in a road trip up that way, I'm stopping by to see you and that shop. I'm glad you are doing and posting this work. It keeps me motivated.

Robert
