Got my Western Chassis flip kit in today... plates made out of 3/8" steel, perches are very solidly welded and thick steel.
Wanted to install spindles/flip kit today, but I'm down and out for the day... Get a load of this kidney stone I passed this morning, WTF? looks like a friggin 22 bullet... SUCKED BIG TIME!!! |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
HOLY SMOKES MAN! That looks excruciating. I hope you are doin okay now. Yeah I think I would be done for the day too. I had my wife look at that and we were both like WOW!

I've had 15 or 20 kidney stones over the last few years so you get used to them...kind of LOL i'll be back on my truck tomorrow though :) |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Your truck is coming along great, you seem to be doing it the right way. I just ordered a set of 2.5 drop spindles today. Are you going to cut the springs at all. I was thinking of just using the spindles up front, I don't want to drop it too much.
When did you retire, I was in Arty for 22 years. |

no i'm not going to cut my springs, just spindles, and the flip kit on the rear. i didn't retire, had to get out from combat injuries/disability. when you say arty, you mean artillary right? gun bunny? i think you PM'd me asked about the drop shackles i have right? |

psssshhh, this is what i'd like my truck to look like... but flat black LOL
|
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
That is what I am going after as well. That is one of trucks that I am modeling my truck after as far as the stance.
|
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Yea, lol Artillery.
I think the 2.5 inch I got are from JDM, they had free shipping so they were a little cheaper. I plan to replace every thing in the front end when they come in. I was the one that PM'd you about the shackles. I think I am going to put a set of those on first and see how 2 inches looks before going lower. I like the stance of the truck above, it's not slammed. |

send me a PM with your address, and we'll see about sending you those Belltech 2" drop shackles |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
ordered up a Painless(painful) Wiring harness # 10205 from streetsideauto.
Kinda expensive, but we'll see what it looks like when I get it, hope it's not a sh*tty one... |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Was your harness not in very good shape? Did you end up deciding on putting the 327 in your truck?
|
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
almost the whole harness front/back, engine compartment and in the cab was totally eaten up my rats/mice/squirrels whatever...
i looked into the 327, i think I'll stay with the 455 for now, only because it will be cheaper to put the 455 in, but I do want a 327 one day :) |

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Supposed to start on rocker this week and then going to blast the cab. From there I think firewall and door jams are getting trimmed in and probably paint the interior. I hope.

Re: My new project 86 Silverado
I need a good TH400 for my truck, any opinions of places to get performance transmissions?
|
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Quote:
Well if you still have the th400, I would see about getting it rebuilt and have them build it up. Might be more cost effective that way. |
