Re: 2wd swap
Love when new parts require more new parts.
Our camaro calipers won't clear our American racing wheels. Rocket racing says theirs do. Any one have experience with them. I notice it's a holley brand now. At $550+ I'd like some 1st hand experience |

The Rockets do offer greater caliper clearance but I've seen guys run spacers on them as well. What exact calipers/rotor combo? That's the bad thing about the 'big brake' set-ups from late model cars (or aftermarkets sources) they're mainly designed w/a bunch of pad offset required to clear fat/long calipers. Old school wheels don't have the same wheel center/barrel shape which helps. |

American racing Rodder
10 spoke 20x9.5 and x8 With a ss camaro brembo caliper. Would need at least a 3/4" spacer. Of 2 wheel companies I emailed only rocket responded. Said their attack wheel has 1.9 inches of caliper room. The other option is baller stuff. 5k+ in wheels or 5k brakes isn't in this blazer project. |

2018 Z51 Vette rotor I'll ask for 100% verification but don't believe he's running a spacer: |

You know if those are 20s? |

As long as they aren't scratched, dinged, or have tires put on them, they're returnable if there's an issue. |

Forward progress.
After 3 machine shops that didn't want my money we did it ourselves. Big brakes are fun they say |
Re: 2wd swap
No one would cut the hubs from your rotors?
|

No.
Got one I'm to busy And this... I never asked for a price. And also open up the i.d of the camaro rotor 2.700 to 3.065 |
Re: 2wd swap
And i was 2.5 hours into it not knowing what I was doing or been near a lathe in 20+ years

Re: 2wd swap
For my g-body Malibu, I opted for aftermarket alum hubs for similar reasons.
First, just being able to find someone that would do the work & even then I prob would have spent the same amount for older, heavier, iron hubs. I also went w/the billet hubs because for my app they were machined for the heavier-duty Camaro 1Le outer bearing vs stock. Win/win. I have KORE3 C10 billet hubs but I've had them since '06 when I helped him w/the C10 brake package he offers. Not sure what he gets for them these days. |
Re: 2wd swap
After jumping thru these hoops I see why people buy this stuff instead of fabricating it.
Although teaching my kid these lessons now may save him headaches in the future. |

Wheels came.
Calipers need about .100 thou though :/ kid wanted the 18" so we did those. But the rotor looks awesome in the barrel |
Re: 2wd swap
Planning a .125" spacer then?
|
Re: 2wd swap
If I can find a steel one.
I'm going by the kids measurements. Haven't actually seen them yet. Work keeps getting in the way of playing with the toys. I see a wilwood makes a .196 in 5x5 I haven't looked much further yet. |
Re: 2wd swap
Send Cut Send.
They can pop you out a set of spacers in the numbers you want within given material sizes. They did a set for my Model-A pretty quick & very decent price. |
Re: 2wd swap
Good to know.

Re: 2wd swap
Also reminded me we have a local cnc plasma guy local
|
Re: 2wd swap
Hay SCOTI, what hub did you use?
Went to pound stud thru ours last night and split the old rotor hub next to the stud. Insert unhappy guy |
Re: 2wd swap

I heard of the g-body guys have the same/common issue after milling their hubs. Trick is to do the studs before & minimize the dimensions for the press fit (some guys were using too large of a knurl). I also verified the 18x8 Rocket cleared a C6 caliper & Z51 13.4" rotor. A buddy of mine said Weld Wheels is making a cheaper cast/flow-formed line of wheels. I looked them up but the BS options were limited vs. the Rockets. |
Re: 2wd swap
We took .200 too much off.
Or .400 total. The knurl was wrong by a couple thou And also learned the snout of the hub gets into the wheel center. Gonna buy a new rotor and try again. The kore3 is based around corvette stuff, I don't know if our camaro stuff is the same |
Re: 2wd swap
Also our cast iron hub snout doesn't fit thru the wheel center.
And won't fit without a 3/8 spacer. The snout and caliper hit. |

Motivation has been lacking, but redo X2.
Also since finding our right quarter is junk, we have rounded up another and that's next. |
