Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
Ive read through this thread a couple times and I don't think I missed it, there isn't anything about what you had to do to make the body and box fit the frame. Are the wheel bases exactly the same? Just curious overall what the process was making the new frame work with the old body. I did see the rad support work.
Truck is looking great, Im sure a whole bunch of us would like to have a ride like yours! |

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
You may have to use relays for headlight switch etc. Newer switches can't handle current like old switches wires are much smaller.

Well I ordered my new tires yesterday. I was expecting them to be here sometime next week. I had to leave for work a little bit today and when I got home they were setting in front of my overhead door.:metal: I called around to see if any tire shops were open to have them mounted but everyone is closed until monday.:whine:. My father in law has a tire machine but he didnt know it it will do 20 inch wheels or not. I guess im going to find out in the morning.
My neighbor needed to put new brakes on his truck today so I started up the 72 and drove it around the yard a bit. Man this is going to be sweet. |
Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.

Well truck went to the muffler shop yesterday and I got the new dual exhaust put on. I trailered it there, but I drove it home. Man did it run good, and it felt great to have it on the road. I also got the wheels and tires mated together but I havnt had a chance to see if they fit.....I sure hope they do. Im going today to pick up my new chrome tips for the exhaust.

Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
Looking really good and I'm sure it runs even better. What muffler and exhaust did you go with?

Ok i need some help here. Im about ready to pull my hair out here and I dont have very much left. I cant get any of the steering wheel controls to work and I cant get the windshield wipers to work. The blinker, headlights, flashers, etc all work. My first thought was the clock spring was bad but I was really careful when I took it all apart to now mess that up. Im not getting any lights on the steering wheel at all. Anyone have any ideas? thanks. |
Re: 1972 Chevy Pickup Project.
The wipers don't go through the clock spring if clock spring ribbon was damged you would also have an air bag light. Was new radio programmed yet ?
