Dude. Crazy. Awesome.

I'm sitting here reading about your build and looking at your pictures. And loving it, by the way, but I was going nuts for about twenty minutes or so.

About halfway through this thread I said to myself "I think I've been in that shop before." And "I recognize that orange GMC, can't be the only one of those around though." And then in post #9, I somehow missed the big "Forrest Auto" sign earlier I said "That junkyard looks really familiar!" And then all of a sudden it hit me that you and I are in Lewiston. Because looking at your location under you profile pic is too hard for some folks.

Are you with PDQ in the old Honda/Clearwater Auto/Cook's building? I may just stop by one of these days and take a closer look at this project.

It's a nice small window, short box, hot rod,,, and I think your right, the price seems pretty fair.

Stayed up late last night performing a marriage (between a cab and a firewall). Despite being really tired, I'm pretty excited. More pictures soon (I need a nap).;)

man you are getting there. looks like a lot of obstacles to overcome but I am sure it will be worth it when you have a classic with a new drivetrain.

Never even thought about a swap like this before.
What're you going to name your build process?

Is this a swap or a conversion?

Absolutely awesome in every way.

Hey CAGRacing, Welcome to all the fun!! As far as the build process, technically it's what they use to call a resto-mod (restored -modern), however that term has become so overused and convoluted that I'm afraid to use that term. Plus I don't intend to restore the body, restore refers to returning it to the way the factory built it. I have some modifications in mind for the body too (imagine that). I'm calling this build process cst/mod (custom/modified) or like a lot of people call it,,,"just plain nuts"., My wife calls it my mid-life crisis and refers to Tangerine as "the other woman".:lol:

OK I promised more photo's but this little thing called "my anniversary" came up. Oh well, I'm back on track now. I started welding up all the seams.

A lot of local people who've been following the build have wondered why I left the outer rockers on after I installed the inner rockers, I used the lip of the outer rockers to set the depth of the cab onto the floor.

Nice progress, gettin her done!
If the rocker lip is setting on the new floor how will you attach the door seal weatherstrip? maybe using something different than the leak prone stock weatherstrip.

The floor actually bends up at the sides. There is about a 3/4" lip up from the floor (see post #61) and the little horizontal lip of the outer rocker sits right on top. This will give me a real nice place to spot weld the floor and rocker together and then the weatherstrip will go over that. :chevy::gmc2:

Gotcha, the last pic just confused me because of the angle. I knew you did your homework and had a plan I just didn't see it. Almost time to mount up some 35's and go muddin!
