Well today I had to get a little creative and make spacers for the fuse block using some adapters for a radiator. I took out a pin in the shifter mechanism so the shifter can run through all 4 gears and changed the selector display thing. still have to mount the linkage. Im havin a little issue...I ran the wiring into the truck that powers up the fuel pump and all and when I turned the key everything powered up but the engine wont crank over so I gotta figure out whats goin on...this is why I hate wiring. Also I have to run the wiring for the brake light...its supposed to connect to the brake switch on the pedal but I don't see the wires for it...I have to look more closely n see. my buddy said we have to have it running and driving by Friday. The driveshaft will be here tomorrow.

I did my swap in a month of 60 hour weeks. It almost killed me.
Still buttoning up little things I rushed. Take your time. Do the wiring right or do it several times.

Do you mean like working 60 hours THEN working on your truck.....or do you mean like you spent 240 hours on your swap.....cuz that would be like turning 1 bolt every day  :mm:

Well I got some good new and some bad news...Goods news is I finally took it for its first test drive and she ran good for a little bit. The bad news is she started to misfire and died. Got it started again drove it back to the shop barely. I put it back on the lift and checked all connection below. The fuel pump wires were loose so I tightened them up. Started it and it ran good for a minute and start misfiring again and then died. Checked fuel pressure and its fine so I don't know whats goin on with it. Also the throttle cable has to be adjusted or something cuz i have to push the gas pedal to the floor to get moving.
the first pic is the throttle cable connected to the pedal...its for a 99 truck...how do i adjust it or move the little ball thing?

Re: Finally starting my 5.3 swap!!

The thing that scared me is the wiring...I just think I'll mess something up. its intimidating to me. I had a lil issue with my driver side exhaust manifold and had to take it out twice...that sh** pissed me off man. Then had a small tranny leak and shifter issue too...things never go smoothly for me man damn!! lol....

the biggest issues I'm having now is the old stuff I'm using from my original stuff on the truck i.e. transfer case, gear box, and blower motor lol...old crap!!!!
