We got the front suspension back together
we chose blue polyeurothane for bushings and boots
it got all new everything (except for rotors they were fine)

I decided to paint the calipers interior blue
That should really make them pop!

We got a lot done today!
First we finished up the front suspension
We installed the blue calipers
And I was right, they do pop!

Then we assembled more stuff on the engine
The chrome alternator went on
We painted the dipstick blue, and put a fancy vintage air manifold on the AC compressor
Then we took it off the stand and coupled the transmission

We then put the drivetrain in the chassis
The drivetrain is even at the proper 4 deg angle!

And prepped the cab for mockup (this includes drilling the mount holes)
Monday we will mock up the cab, finalize positioning of the drivetrain, build the motor mounts, fabricate the Transmission tunnel, and measure for driveshaft length

Good day's work.

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 Woody R

yeah, we’ll prolly make up for it by getting very little accomplished Monday!

Ok, I am now laughing out loud.

Yes, I know the syndrome of which you speak.

Right? I’m usually afflicted by it!

Ok, I'm sure someone will not like that we are off topic on the build, but I'm still chuckling about that Monday comment.

It’s my thread, I’ll say what I want! Glad you appreciate my humor

So we mocked up the cab today
set where the drivetrain will be
The engine has the proper 4deg rake
Looking absolutely killer!

Built the Transmission tunnel today
Wanted to get it done before we ran the fuel line (fire hazard, ask me how I know)
all tacked in, ready to seam
seamed and leaksealed
The floors are officially done, ready for sound deadener, jute padding, and carpet!

Here’s the engine shot of the chassis
we took apart the rear brakes to inspect them. The right rear wheel cylinder is blown and leaked brake fluid all over the shoes, ruining them
We started out to undercoat the whole frame, but ran out, will pick some more up tomorrow
Got the modified Transmission crossmember tacked and ready to seam weld tomorrow

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 Woody R

It is coming together nicely.

How did you bend the tranny cover? Also, what brand of wheels are those?

skymangs 11-30-2021 10:13 AM

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 Woody R

8man-I used a piece of 4” PVC 2' long to form the tunnel.

The wheels are Boyd Coddington

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 Woody R

Thanks. Old fashioned ingenuity on bending that roll for the tranny cover.

Not many pictures today, but lots accomplished
We finished painting the frame today
Built the offset drop blocks for the rear, tomorrow we’ll install the drop
Finish welded the Transmission crossmember
Worked on fabricating the AC lines for the cowl

Looks like you and the guys are working well together. Things are moving.

If you don't mind, I'd like to see the AC hose routing from stem to stern. I did the Vintage Air on the 48, but don't really like the hoses running through the firewall and was thinking about something like what you are doing for my 54.

what do you mean from stern to stern?

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 Woody R

What unit are you using, and I see the lines going through the side to get inside the fender, but I've never seen how they get mounted and run back through to the compressor and the coil.
