Not much progress today. I spent the majority of my time cleaning the garage. Here are some pictures of the little bit of progress I made. I got my bumper buffed out and mounted my plate and park lights. I ran into a little snag tho. I discovered that my long front bumper brackets are actually for a 67-70 and my bumper is 71-72. The set I have is powdercoated and are in perfect shape. If anyone has a set of 71-72 brackets that they would be willing to trade, that would be awesome. I don't expect them to be coated, just straight and not pitted. Here are some pictures of my progress

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
Truck looks awesome!! Im really jealous of those spindles, theyre badass!! Have awesome brakes and zero bumpsteer, haha. I thought about changing mine over to 5x5 since I have old race 9 inches laying around, but most of the 9 inches I find are offset so it would be hard to make them work. That quick change you had in a few pics would be pretty badass in there too. With those monster calipers, that thing will definitely be fun to drive. Plus you can adjust the panhard bar if its tight or loose, hahaha. Its definitely a super clean truck. I was wondering, do you still have the original 68 grill and headlight buckets? My grill is straight, but the P.O. rattle canned it black, and my headlight buckets are dinged up, so I would need to get new buckets and chrome the grill, but if you still have yours, its already all done. Let me know

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
I have 6 lugs so I think I'm going to do either drop spindles or the 88-98 spindles with 6 lug rotors. If I was keeping this for myself I would def go that route, but I'm trying to keep it cheap and effective. I wish we could run super late model stuff on our cars, would make setup much easier. I would def be interested in the headlight buckets if they are in good shape. Let me know, I can PM you my email address

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
By headlight buckets you mean the bezels correct? Or do you mean the actual buckets that bolt to the core support? I have the bezels if that's what you are interested in. Go ahead and PM me your email and we can go from there

Not much progress. Almost finished mounting the brake lines and fuel lines. Also threw on the front calipers and figured out that they interfere with the lowers so we are gonna have to put some spacers behind the hats to move the brakes away from the spindles. Also cleaned up the motor, looks kinda purdy :metal:

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
Looks nice! We have that problem on our race cars some times. No need to space them out, get a big slugger and give the lower a few good whacks until they have about 1/2 inch there. It shouldnt take much, or heat it up and tweak with a cresant wrench.

Not much progress today. Ripped the old seat apart. Looks like the foam is gonna have to be replaced. I also found most of the build sheet. Not that there are any cool options on this truck but still kinda cool to have.

Did some craigslist shopping yesterday and ended up with this. The woodgrain is original to the tailgate, just pulled it off for cleaning. There is zero rust in this thing, just that nasty dent at the top. Looks like a job for the old slide hammer to me. Let me know what you guys think

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
Nice!!! They make replacement letters for that wood band if you're missing one? Or if they're pitted...

Slide hammer with an L shape on the end instead of a screw

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
Thanks!! No they're all there and really nice. I took some of that eagle one metal polished and shined em up, they look really nice. VA, you'd probably know the answer to this. Did they ever make Cheyenne trucks without side molding? I was thinking about doing the tail light bezels and the tailgate with all the trim but I don't really want to put all the side molding on. Was there a chance that Chevrolet ever made a truck like that?

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
Thanks guys. I'm home for spring break but I don't have the money to do very much work. Tomorrow I will be tackling some of the body work on that tail gate, pictures will follow. One more thing, does anyone have pictures of how the stock shift linkage for an automatic goes together?
