I'm baaack!!! Have been working a lot and just have not had the time to post! My company called me back after being off just one week and I have been working ever since. July 23 is my supposed last day now. Back to the project!! Got a few minor little things done..... I cut a big hole in the tub....
Attachment 1425580 Just enough to fit the c-notches in! Attachment 1425581 It felt good seeing it sitting on the frame. Attachment 1425582 Even while still sitting on the jacks I was happy to see wheels tuckin!! Attachment 1425583 I should have pulled the wheel wells out first, but you know how it is when you get excited about something. Attachment 1425584 |

Since it was a large step I took a few extra pics.
This is the first pic of it layed out almost at zero pressure. Attachment 1425622 This is lifted to almost max. Attachment 1425623 This is a problem, it's not low enough!!! The heads on the bolts that hold in the trailing arm crossmember make the body and frame "teeter" front to back so this will have to be addressed. Attachment 1425624 Limbo contests are gonna be fun with this thing!! Attachment 1425625 Added a fender to check clearance, everything looks good after cutting out for the Slosh Tubz, doesn't look like I'll have to cut into the firewall but things change. Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
Looks great!
What size (diameter) wheel/tire combo will you be running when it's finished? This will dictate how low it goes. |
Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
Weld the bottom of that crossmember then you won't have the bolt heads to deal with. Honestly how often do you plan to remove it? But if you do decide to remove it you only have a few welds to cut.

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
Body mounts will probably raise it 3/4" or so.

Yeah body drop kit is in, still have to buy the cushions. I'm missing a few items but Travis is working on it. Having flooring put in the house this week so no truck work will happen during my week off at home, but that's ok since the wife is happy.

I am steadily making progress each week! The pics do not show much progress, but it actually was a lot of progress. Only had a day and a half to get this all done so I was happy. These pics are all that I took, but I did spray both sides of the tub with rattle can primer. I hope to have an announcement about the project soon.....so stay tuned!!!
Paint is gone off the dash. Attachment 1428243 I fabbed up a filler panel and filled in the windshield pillar, still gotta weld in the other side. Attachment 1428244 Made some fillers for the taillights as well. Attachment 1428245 Bare metal shows all, found a patch at the front of the tub on both sides and the quarter panel on the driver side will need to be replaced. There was a gallon of bondo on that quarter panel!!!:metal: Attachment 1428246 |
