It wasn't a truck! No, seriously, this settles it once and for all... except those so rigid in their thinking they prefer ignorance to enlightenment. I know, OUCH! But really, who wants to argue forever? In that vid the guy called it a "pickup". That is what El Caminos are. They are absofarkinlutely pickups. Stupid argument is truck vs car. Hang up that meaningless eternal crap. A C/10 is "pickup truck", a C/60 is a "truck", an El Camino is unmistakably a "pickup". You can say it's a car if you have to because it's a Chevelle. Can't deny that. There was a Chevelle 2dr & 4dr sedan, 2dr sports coupe, Convertible, station wagon, and pickup. A convertible isn't a sedan, a sedan isn't a station wagon, a station wagon isn't a sports coupe, none are pickups except the El Camino. That's why they were made. Chevy already made all the above before 1964, then they added a pickup to the new mid-size line. In '59 there was only full-size... a term that didn't exist till the Chevy II. In 1959 a new concept was born in Chevy's line up. It's GM's light duty pickup. That's all

Doesn’t it take a truck to do this?

Spoken in my best barrel chested Mr. Big Guy voice, "A real truck don't need no training wheels". Yeah, I see them as light trucks built on a car platform. I believe they only stopped production after '87 because the 1500-3500s of '88 were going the route of car-like comfort and the S-series was a proven success for the lighter end by that time (5 years of production/sales by '87). Plus gave better fuel economy with the I-4. Isn't there something about average fuel economy across the line being the way the EPA sets their standards/requirements?

How about a Grey Poupon hauler? Rolls Royce

Everythung about it says "Lean Mean Street Machine"... "Pickup"

I like that they didn't feel they had to make it an SS to be something. Hey, how about a COPO Camino? That would be awesome. Give the "300" treatment in one of the lighter metallics

Another Chrysler Ute... '52 Correction: That's labeled wrong. It's a GM... Holden. I thought it looked too cool to be a Chrysler . Looks like the same quarters as on the Chevy Utes of the time

in the eighties, there was an all original, one owner, 66, big block, four speed, sat in a storage unit north of here for years. The widow wanted $6,000 for it. I'm not sure why I don't own it.

Studebaker built cars and trucks. That is a '37 pickup truck. They called it the Coupe Express. And I've always wanted one.

Shame, too, since that one has a bed.

Back to just plain ole El Caminos. Most people call these the big El Caminos. I guess this is an El Laguno :ito:

Ok, I'm a troll. I am specifically posting this picture to conjure up controversial truck or car conversation. It is definitely not a pickup!

I want a mail truck like that. Put killer A/C in that thing with a real comfortable interior, "The Lounge" style seating

I guess I should pop a picture up.

I like the mail truck too.
I remember my company (idiots) bought a couple of those mail type right hand drive Jeeps and of course I got stuck with driving one.

That thing was a gutless mess. And squirrely as hell. I took it on the freeway once. I was going up a fairly steep grade and it was a windy day. I felt like I was taking my life in my hands. It was all over the road. And slower than cold molasses.
