Some pics in primer. Black exposed some areas I have to touch up. Should be able to get those done and have it on the truck soon.

I like the use of the old fender for the piece. Nice to have matching lines.

Thanks. Trying to keep it mean looking without going full MadMax.

Don't really have all the tooling to make everything I want to do, so have to get creative.

Purchased online. They came as 6" x 12" pre-stamped steel. My add on the hood was made with (3) separate pieces including the fender piece and the louvers. Was a little more work, but cost effective for what I needed.

Some pics of the hood in place. Also added a pic of the louvers. Got them online: Rodlouvers.com $22 for the pair.

Wiz kid came by and noticed right off the bat that something was off. I failed to mention the LS9 cam. There are no provisions on the rear of this cam for a standard 5.3 sensor to read. Spoke with Holley and they said I can configure the ECU to disable the sensor and modify the ignition to "Waste fire". They said it will run, just not as efficient? To me, that means not the correct way. Now I'm on the fence on pulling this thing to add timing cover with correct sensor position or changing cam or once/ if I get it running see what happens. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

That sucks, I'd do it now, considering which one would be a bigger headache.

Agreed, best to just get it done now. So close to getting this thing on the road. Wiz kid is going to come by and input what Holley recommended into the ECU. If we get it started and running, going to enjoy what season of cruising I have left till fall. Then get it back into the garage to replace the front timing cover and gear set.

Body progress. Filler has a funny way of making you think you are the man.....Until you get sealer on it. Hahaha. Still have several areas to touchup, then maybe some color on it.

Ha, Thank you! Was just talking to the wife about "Fitment" with the rims on her car. Not a fan of gaps, but who is?

Thanks! Haven't decided on a color, but leaning towards silver or darker metallic dark gray like the bumper. Will most likely be primer for a LONG time.

Well, I've come to the realization that I will not be able to get this thing running on my own in my garage start to finish 100%. While it's a little disheartening, I'm not stubborn enough to not realize that its Ok to ask for help when needed. I found a shop that does swaps and knows the in's/ out's of the computer system. Have an LS2 front timing kit on order that comes with everything needed to do the front sensor conversion. They are confident that they can get this in and get it running. They also have a dyno and can get it tuned. Judging by the rest of the vehicles in their shop and reviews, I'm feeling pretty good about it. Weekend was nice, so I decided to get him off the blocks and out into the sun for a good washing.

Thanks man, I was excited at all the measurements worked. Fully aired out, its about an 1" off the floor. Fully aired up, roughly 7-8". Going to push it out again this weekend to play with the psi/ wheel combos and see how low I can go while still being able to turn the wheel. Also may revisit the exhaust exit again, give it a little nip/tuck. That side was tight against the wall and couldn't get a good read on it till I got it out.

Finally loaded and at a shop!! I am exited and nervous at the same time. It was tough to find a shop that would take it. First shop that originally was willing fell through and after sending emails and pics to several places, I found a shop that specializes in LS based engines. Fingers crossed they are able to get this thing flying down the road. Did go back to the 20's for wheels. The 17's looked good when aired out, but at ride height they looked like roller skate wheels. I'm sure I'm going to go back and forth on them.

My vote for second set. Good luck with the shop!
