Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
patina-is the natural age of the trucks paint, so a mix of rust and weathered paint. Lot of people like and hate it, I personally like it because it really makes the vehicle stand out and alike no other. Anyone can paint a car canary yellow. this is heavily debated subject like religion and the term rat rod, patina doesn't make something a rat rod. anyway, I do like paint don't get me wrong, I just feel like trucks look so appropriate in patina, if its good. Fauxtina-is when you paint a fake patina on the truck. This causes even more debate. Bottom line, if its your ride, do what ever you want. I see where both sides are coming from but hey there are plenty of other things to gripe about IMO, just live and enjoy the ride and if you built it, no one can say a damn thing about it.
check out steelekustoms.com I think it is, send him an email and he'll point you in the right direction, if this aint his, he had one just like it I know that, I just can't recall the shade of it. good luck man, just learn and take what you see and hear with a grain of salt, cause there are alot of dooshbags out there that are just negative and know it alls. Do you, there are no rules, this is an art period. |

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
What I like to do is sand the under side of all the panels and cab etc, and coat them with chassis saver or por15, something of that nature, then you can wax or clearcoat the outside. Of course keeping it stored inside is key. IMO if your gonna keep the patina, atleast help preserve it because it won't stay that way forever.

Love the Burb!

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
This thread delivers better than the big brown truck. The Burb and 50th anniversary truck are both money. :metal:
