Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
Looks great. Something about having a finished frame that just makes you feel good inside :).

Looks great. What a novel idea to hang it. Do you plan on trying to shoot the color all at once?

Thanks guys! As ugly as it was beforehand, we're pretty happy with how the frame turned out.

Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
After a month off tending to other projects and getting acclimated to my new job, I'm back to work on the '65. I spent seven hours sanding down the A-pillars, dash, firewall, kickpanels, floor, and rear wall today. Dad is going to knock out a little body work in the morning, then we hope to get it cleaned, masked, and primed by tomorrow evening.

Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
That’s a nice job on the frame and layin out the premier. Hope mine comes out as smooth as yours.
What did you wipe down the dash with in the spray bottle? |
Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
Nice work!

Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
Thanks guys! Bomp, that's Acetone in the spray bottle. I find it handy to fill a spray bottle to keep wetting the rags rather than using the cumbersome gallon can.

Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
I went over to the shop this morning and got her all seam-sealed and seaworthy.

Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
Laid the first coat of satin black on the firewall, floor, and rear wall tonight. Planning on shooting the second coat tomorrow, then we'll get the A-pillars, kickpanels, and dash into silver over the weekend.

Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
We put the dash, A-pillars, and kickpanels into primer this morning. The final two coats of paint (regarding the interior of the cab) will be shot tomorrow morning. :) I can't wait to see it all unmasked.

I just painted my interior today. Medium fawn metallic. But kept it gloss finish

Re: Bringing the '65 back to life
The interior is finally in finished paint. As mentioned before, it will get a repro black firewall insulation pad and a black vinyl full floor covering. After all the time and effort, it sure is nice seeing the ideas become reality. :)
