Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Captain, on your burb that you put the 75 impala brake setup on. Would that work on my 65? I was about to order the combo and just wanted to make sure they were the same as yours. I really like the looks of yours on there.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
The firewalls are the same from '63-'66 on the Chevy's and '64-'66 on the GMC's. So yes my '63-'66 booster bracket shown in this for sale thread will work on your '65.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I already have your bracket. I was meaning the booster and master cylinder. Sorry, it was a long day yesterday. I kinda left that part out of the question.
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I have no idea if a '75 Impala booster and master will work on your truck. What braking system does your truck have?
On my Suburban the booster is for an Impala but the master cylinder is for a '67-'70 truck. That is because my Suburban still has drums front and rear. Quote:

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Captainfab,
I'm building a 65 GMC shortbed truck with my son. We are using the drive train from a 69 chevy longbed including the powersteering/steering linkage components. I'm interested in the bracket but have a few questions regarding the swap and use of your bracket. Thanks, ARG0220 |
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I'll send you a PM.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Has anyone converted to non power disc brakes? Is this a possibility?
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
It is done quite frequently. All you need is a manual master cylinder for disc brakes and bolt it to your firewall.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
captainfab, Just making sure this will work for a 68 swb 4x4 frame? It is has the flat area for the steering box. Thx!!
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Tis is the for sale thread for the '63-'66 brake booster not the steering box adapter plate.
To answer your question, I have sold many steering box adapter plates that have been installed on K series frames. I just do not have installation instructions or a template specific to the K series frames. I can give you a link to a build thread that has all the dimensions and pictures you need. Quote:

I replied to your PM. Other than a couple of powder coated booster brackets in stock, most orders are built when ordered.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Where can i source the vacuum for adding a brake booster? 1965 283. There is PCV valve and fitting behind carb that has a plug on oppsite side of the valve. Can I use that plugged port for the booster vacuum source, or does it have to be isolated from the PCV?
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
The vacuum for the PCV should be isolated from any other vacuum operated accessory. Is there no manifold vacuum port on the carburator? If the one with the PCV is the only one, then you will have to use that. Another option is a carb spacer with a vacuum port. Of course this depends on what carb you have.

Captainfab,
Just finished the brakes on my 62 C10 that has a hydraulic clutch - drum/drum. I want to add a booster using your kit including the mounting bracket and wilwood clutch cylinder. I just picked up an early 90's Booster and master cylinder setup from a Chevy 1500. Bolts measure 3 3/8x 31/2 so booster should be fine. Wondering if I can use the mc that is already on it or do I need a different mc. Also from reading previous posts it appears that I can eliminate the proportioning valve since it is drum/drum? Posted a picture of the booster assembly if that helps. Will get my order in as soon as I am sure I have the right parts. Thanks for your help, Paul Attachment 1653019 |
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
This for sale thread is for the '63-'66 standard booster bracket. Here is the thread for the '60-'62 trucks with the hydraulic clutch.
http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=362375 You can not use a master cylinder designed for a disc/drum braking system on a truck that has a drum/drum braking system. You need a drum/drum master cylinder and the appropriate booster. With that booster you would have to use a master cylinder for a 1970 Buick Estate wagon with power brakes. Are you still using the original slave cylinder? Quote:
