Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
My love of 67-72s began, well, when I first saw the '67. But, it only grew from there. I've had at least one since '73. As the '80s rolled on nostalgia played into it making my reasons for loving them multi-faceted. I was becoming a teen in '67 and by '72 I was a well seasoned driver at 17 . I think the music I/we listened to in that time was the best era of musical creation. If I picked a "best" year it would be 1970. More great albums came out of this year, with many groups putting out more than one. It was the time at the foot of the beginn ing of record companies really catching on and commercializing what would come to be known as "rock". Back then it was just real musicians expressing themselves through exploring and creating... and the recording industry couldn't help nut notice. These musicians didn't know if they's make a lot of money or not. They just wanted to play and figured the recording expense would be covered and hopefully some more. Then came the industry basically creating groups and segments of rock.
Another reason I became so about 67-72 is Drag racing and NASCAR were at their pinnacle... from my standpoint. The money came along to change all that, too. although it took the '70s decade to get to where my head started turning away from it (for the most part). Anyway, I'll start with a group many may not know of, or have forgotten. Not among my favorites, but they represent the era well... and not so hard to look at, either. Fanny: Edit: Nice way to start off. Go to YouTube and search "Fanny - Ain't That Peculiar - LIVE - 1972-11-25" . I would just post something else, but seeing this video is what gave me the idea for this thread. Please post songs you know from the late '60s to early '70s. Thank you Let me pop in some Black Oak Arkansas to fill the void: Better known group and song: Scott. Er, rather Led Zeppelin: |
Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Thank you for posting that Tim
That is one of my favorite songs. Page and Plant played it when I saw them. |
Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Tim, clicked on your post and first thing I saw was the Black Oak Arkansas CD. Seen Black Oak in concert years ago and have always liked their sound. The CD you posted is VERY hard to come by, have it on LP album and just recently was able to find it on line.

Motown was still happening and it tried to change with the time. Kinda worked but nothing like what it was at the beginning of the era Ok, just a touch early being '66. I mainly didn't want to go into '73 because by then the record industry had taken hold and also many groups had split into solos, other groups, and generally seemed to be flowing rather than leading the 'edge'. Not that great music doesn't still live on to this day. But I just wanted to take a great Temptations song from early and one from later '66 '69 '72 |
Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Couple more Led Zeppelin songs
Buffalo Springfield was one of the earlest favorites of mine. Steven Stills did tons toward setting the pace for what was to come bringing us out of the top 40 early-mid '60s All time favorite of mine: Then came Crosby Stills & Nash and then added Young Steven Stills did his own album in '70. One song with Jimi Hendrix, can you believe... in the BACKGROUND. Also with Eric Clapton |
Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music

Yeah buddy! Creedence Clearwater Revival was an major iconic group of this era. I have so much music in my head to bring to this thread. I am a poet and I don't know it . Creedence is one. I came up with the name for my construction company from multiple things in my life up to '82 when I started it, and CCR was one for sure
Attachment 1879024 And this is my theme song: Iconic song of the times: Hows about some Cream? Or Allman Brothers: |
Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
A lot of these songs were the soundtrack of Viet Nam.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
It's a thread for the era 67-72 trucks come from, meaning "late '60s- early '70s". I also posted music from '66. I bought a next to new '72 big block shortbed off the OK Used Car lot at Sport Chevrolet in '73, so I associate the early '70s as far as they can be stretched into the mid-70s. It was a great time that I still wish never ended

Tim I'm sorry but I hate anything led zeppelin has ever done. Give me a Dead , Jethro or Hendricks song any day
Led zeppelin in my opinion stole most of their hits songs https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...fs-223419/amp/ |
Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
The songs they “stole” sound better than the originals by far

I've been dying to jump in, but I've been swamped lately:lol:
We moved from SoCal in '72, when I was 13, so everything from before the move. Hmmm...been a lot of great vids posted already. I don't think I'd really disagree with any, in the context of then. Oh, first, let's take a minute to remember Peter Tork. https://youtu.be/ngDQ7fPcKbQ https://youtu.be/sbY195bMw5o Ya Ya, the pre-fab four. They were huge, though. And the stuff they actually did themselves stands up. Of course, the first full album I ever bought was by the actual Fab Four. Truth is, I snuck my older sister's brand new copy of Abbey Road to a dance and it got scratched and I had to replace it:metal: https://youtu.be/oolpPmuK2I8?list=PL...vopMJt__x-y5mD Still my favorite Beatles album. But I was always all over the place. With 3 older sisters, I got everything from the 50's on. And dad with his country and mom with her big band and showtunes, I got the full range. Top 40 was huge, Motown. I still listen to a lot of old 60's soul. Too many to list right now, for sure. |

Peter Tork. Rest in peace. In '72, I was listening to whatever my folks were listening to Didn't have much of a choice....I was 3 and ITunes hadn't been invented yet:lol:. I do fondly remember really liking The Monkeys as their songs were pretty upbeat compared to whatever my folks were listening to. I think we drove them absolutely crazy singing those songs over and over. |
Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Yeah, Abbey Road and the White Album stand out the most in my mind when thinking 67-72
Yes all those, Mudder. That one reminded me... Rare Earth Born To Be Wild Black Magic Woman by Santana Originally done by Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green who later went with Santana |

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
It's the weekend and no action here. I mean it's Saturday night! Am I the only one fascinated with connecting these trucks with the great music of the times... as well as all te great things connected to this era? I feel alone here, which I'm totally cool with. But jeezy peezy c'mon! Ya buncha one post wonders . I always noticed looking at car mags these guys with the magazine quality cars seemed to come up short in the music department. In the credits for what the car had it was always cheapass stereos like Kraco or Realistic. I never got that. Can't a guy be a motorhead AND appreciate great music, too? Maybe it's that most are young bucks who just don't get it. I dunno, but I'm happy enjoying my world regardless.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
I'm in agreement with pretty much everything posted so far. in the late sixties, The Chili Kitchen was the hangout, and to this day I'm not sure the juke box had anything on it but Led Zeppelin. I had CCR, Johnny Rivers, Linda Ronstadt and whatever other 8 tracks in my car.

Tim, I have a 1968 Gibson B-25 laying right here beside me, and I have an Ibanez acoustic electric and a Fender Stratocaster with a 200 watt amp at the shop. I make noise there sometimes.
I can't play a guitar, but I do. |

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
I have barely ever tried to play guitar and I still really want to learn. I did play drums, but you kinda need a band for that. I grew up around guitar playing, my dad and three sisters not to mention their boyfriends, my dad's friends, and mine. My dad was a HS teacher and in the '60s the school's folk music club would gather at our farm. My dad and the shop teacher (a childhood idol of mine) had students in the wood shop at night making guitars. I had a 12-string f-hole Rickenbocker (Like Roger McGuinn's) but someone my sister let see it stole it. I am thinking to break into the guitar by exploiting my good rhythm on the bass. I told a friend this and he has a friend who is looking to sell an acoustic 1970 Gretch 4-string bass guitar. I'm excited. It's something classic that I can play with any acoustic music, unplugged rock, or at home along with the stereo.
The Youngbloods made some great music. And good job on the post-a-linkin' |

My dad was accomplished in the music scene, old school high on swing and melodies. He always said Engelbert Humperdinck's voice was second to none. I do like some of his songs (VINTAGE:chevy::lol:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch_Fz2Np-Z4 I like that Youngblood's tune. Don't know much about em, though Get Together is one of my favorites.
