Sneak Peak....

Here's a little sneak peak of a new Dropmember design we have been working on.... not quite finalized yet. Little more modern looking than the current tubular version.

Awesome! :metal:

I will get some pics up of it all assembled eventually. Been hammered in the shop, buttoning up a couple of overdue projects first.

I don't have a very original name for it yet. I was just thinking "Version 4".

Other names like the "cheese grater", "potato slicer" and "fusion" (I was told it looks like a gillette from the bottom side) were offered up.... but those obviously won't make the cut!

Wow! Looks KILLER!!! This type of leading edge ingenuity is exactly why I ordered my front and rear drop member kit from you guys vs. the many other options out there! I can't wait to take delivery so I can finally stop adding to my "running" order (hinges added just today in fact), especially with eye candy like this. ;)

No joke! We have shipped a few kits to the islands... last front and rear ran right around $1500 just to get it there!

Thanks for the kind words!

Nate

The nice thing is that this design only weighs in at 1lb heavier than the tube version. :)

Re: Sneak Peak....

Are you going to do a rear bridge to match? I love the look of the tube version, but that looks incredible.

Try DHX, Dependable Hawaiian Xpress in LAX. The have weekly barge sailings at pretty reasonable rates.

Is this the long awaited performance handling drop member that you've been working on with robs advice?

Gotta love a guy with a sense of humor! LOL

Rob has some crazy consulting fees.... so fortunately we were able to handle this one on our own! We had the "Touring" version's geometry all dialed in for quite some time before we released it over a year ago. Thanks for checkin' though!

This is just a redesign of the main crossmember assembly. Main adavantages are rigidity and its modular design.

INSIDIOUS '86 10-15-2012 05:02 PM

Re: Sneak Peak....

Ah see I never been really up to date on your products. So I'm sure the increased rigidity will help our redvines soft frames quite a bit. How much lighter do you say this is over a stock crossmember

Kind of what I figured by the comment you made.

I have the info. posted on here somewhere... but willl dig it up again. The main weight savings is in the steering components switching from gear box to rack and pinion. Our tubular arms also shed some pounds.

This new version weighs one pound heavier than the tubular one. I will get some more numbers and post them up again when I have some more time.

INSIDIOUS '86 10-15-2012 05:55 PM

Re: Sneak Peak....

Sounds good. Seems like a lot of weight is in the stock cross shaft and arms.

I'm thinking "rigidmember" is out of the question so how about "modmember"?

October modmember special anyone?

Now that I've started with the double meanings, "chopmember" puts me in the wrong state of mind. :exit:

Nate, with there be a cost difference between the V3 and the Slice-o-matic slicer version? Or will either design be an option?

Version 4 looks great Nate. Looks to be a lot simpler from a manufacturing point, lasered & braked plate with straight tube.

Do the original control arms bolt right up?

Keep up the great work, now get back to work on the rear sway bar concept.....lol

See you at Goodguy's
