Nice!

On a side note..... I attempted to slide the LSx into the truck tonight. Using some plates that have been scribed w/the typical 'LS to sbc' mount orientation, the drivetrain is pretty close. The 4l80e required removing more of the trans tunnel than I had hoped & I'm thinking I might need to get a f-body oil pan for better bottom end clearance for servicing entrance/exit.

It's a good thing these motors don't have distibutors @ the back of the manifold. The fit is tighter than my wallet ;) .....

It will use the stock trailing arms, IIRC.

Looks awesome, Nate.

I would imagine the rear link set up will be like the 73-87 kits Porterbuilt makes. pics of the 73-87 kit are on the attached link.

So, you're using an off the shelf adapter plate instead of the PB plates? I would definitely recommend the F-body pan; from test fits in the Blazer, I would say it is a necessity.

I have the sbc DM because that's what was installed in the truck when I made the purchase. I was looking for a 5.3/4l60e for my 74 when I ran across the 6.0/4l80e & figured it would be great for my Beater/tow vehicle. Nate & I have discussed possible options. He'll be working on something on his end & while waiting, I figured I would attack it from mine.

I made 'adapter' plates that are bolted to the LS block & prepped them for both the 'stock' sbc location as well as the 1" set back. After my initial attempt last night, the sbc holes in the plate were very close. The issue I did run into was between the height of the truck intake & the depth of the truck pans sump it was very difficult to get a confirmation that adapter plates will work.

From info I found via the net, the f-body pan is 3" more shallow vs. the truck pan. What I'm trying to confirm @ this time is specifics on the Caddy CTSv pan. It's very similar to the f-body pan dimensionally & apparently uses the same windage tray as the trucks (which means less stuff to buy/mess with).

You will need the F-body pan for sure... and the F-body pick-up tube. The windage tray can be salvaged with slight trimming.

This configuration was originally destined for trailing arms... BUT it looks like a four-link makes a lot more sense.

That explains a lot. I was wondering if this would work- glad you're guinea pigging it for us!

The overall height will be the same. The supplied motor mounts from PB are the same for LSX or SBC; the only difference is in where the mounting tabs are welded to the crossmember.

The truck windage tray can be modified to work with the Camaro pan. The CTS pan may prove to be unobtanium. Though the F-body pans don't exactly grow on trees these days...

It is a bolt-on... 100% just like the 73-87 kit. This pic is not of a finished piece. Just a teazer shot.

My logic is that I most likely won't be the only guy that upgrades to a LSx drivetrain w/the rising costs of petrol.

How much farther forward are the LSx motor-mount tower tabs on the c.member vs. the sbc tabs?

They're actually set back a bit. Looks like ~3"; I haven't had one of each to compare. It looks like the rear tab is in virtually the same spot... Here's a photo comparison: SBC(top), LSX(mine, bottom)

Since we have seriously thread-jacked you, Nate- getting back on track...

-What will be the advantages of this system over the KP setup?
-How will it compare cost-wise?
-When can we see some more pics?

I am not quite sure as to all the advantages/disadvantages when compared to the KP kit... the KP kit isn't being produced yet.

I do know that my kit will get less travel. I am setting mine up for right at 8" to match the front, and it will run a sleeve bag over the axle. The KP kit, I assume, would get somewhere between 10" and 12", like their square body kit.

Another potential difference is that the Dropmember Rear will be 100% bolt on, while I believe the KP kit has a weld-in notch.

As for pricing... mine will run $1999.00 for the complete kit. Complete Kit includes: Notch, trailing arm crossmember (without tabs for trailing arms!), four-link, bags, shocks, panhard bar, all hardware, carrier bearing support bracket (two-piece driveshaft needed on this one), instructions, and templates (for cutting the frame).

More pics to come later in the week.

No tunneling of the cab. I like that idea.

How tall is the notch? Set up to lay on a 30" tire like the 73-87?

Dang it now I HAVE to upgrade to 22's .:waah: I figure my 20's are barely 27" tire diameter.
Making arrangements to have body pulled off this by the end of this weekend so I should be ready slighty before you are. Then the stalking of the man in brown can begin;)

My DM front came ups although the box had a rough go. Also from talking to Nathan about the rear design it has been designed to ship UPS.

Looks good Nate, tell your Pop's he is doing one heck of a job:lol: My wife keeps asking if anything has been done on this yet as she wants one for her 63 GMC;) Just go ahead and send me one and I will have her install it to show how user friendly it is:lol:

So Nate will this work with a 4x4 frame as well as a 2x4 fra, leaf or coil? If so you need to pick up a clean AZ 4x4 Blazer and put your products were your key board is!
Sure would make it easy for guys to get their "2wd Blazers".

This kit will be a UPS shipped item... just like the front. As mentioned, I designed it in pieces that will meet the packaging and weight specs... who wants to pay truck freight?

Also, I have gained enough experience with UPS to understand that they do not take it easy on packages... especially the heavy ones! After dealing with torn box issues in the beginning, I have since switched to double boxing all components (two double walled boxes, with hardware and other pieces boxed inside) ... a little more spendy for me with the custom sized boxes, but I haven't had a "lost" component since.

Kevin-

I don't think this particular piece will work on the 4WD chassis... but that's definitely in the future.

However, on the leaf sprung chassis... the rails are the same as the coil sprung trucks with one small difference, there are ridges pressed into the framerails to cradle the leaf spring perches. This chassis is actaually a leaf sprung chassis. As soon as I finalize the four-link design, I am bustin out my 65 big-window and doing a complete front and rear install... just to "verify" things ;). For some reason I think that the 65 will end up with a for sale sign as soon as the rolling chassis is Dropmember Equipped.
