SPOTTED: C30 in SA (RHD)
Hey guys,
while driving home today I managed to spot this C30, they are not very popular in SA, you do see a few c10's and c20's but c30's not a lot. I was surprised to see this one, it is definitely not in the best condition but the owner let me know how he loves his truck and how reliable it is, this is def a daily loader. Truck was column shift but he changed to floor shift and change from 3 spd to 4 spd.... Some pics..... You will see the broken 'Fleetside' emblem as well....... http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...f/ChevC301.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...f/ChevC303.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...f/ChevC302.jpg |

Re: SPOTTED: C30 in SA (RHD)
random questions. Is the column shift on a RHD still on the same side? auto and 3OTT?
On the bed where the paint is chipped way back. It looks rally thick. Is that bondo or is the paint just really thick. I love how the whole thing is rusty but still looks solid as hell. Good old school steel. |

I realize that this old truck has had some "use" but, it seems that the edges on the rear of the box are more square than on most trucks.. Also,, is there a tail light there ?

Re: SPOTTED: C30 in SA (RHD)
looking again it looks like spot welds at the bottom and top of where the taillights would be. Probably why the paint is so thick in the back as well. He beat on it a little a few years ago i'd say.

Interesting, also looks like the dash has no openings for radio or HVAC controls. Was that original?

The backend looks a lot like the back end on the mexico trucks. They are more square, and the tailgate is more like a stepside gate than a fleetside gate.
Did you get anymore pictures of the back of it? |

Is that a bedside step too?

Cool find, the emblems look just like yours. I wonder if they put them on all of them exported to SA? It may be a factory emblem from 58-59 Chevrolet Apache trucks, looks like it to me anyway.

That is one weird looking bed, it is not the latin american version because the upper body line rakes down as the North american models, In my opinion that bed was built/designed or copied out of the US which is very common, I remember looking @ 2dr 2wd tahoes in Mexico using the 4wd OEM alloy wheels we have in the states, they were just drilled for a five lug application. Im diggin the flush tailgate edge on this thing, it is difinitely a fleet not a step bed, even the inside bed panels look a lil diff.

Yes the tail lamp lenses all cracked up and the owner was not able to obtain replacement lenses to he welded them up and mounted new stop lamps and backup lamps beneath the aftermarket tow bar and bumper. |

In your photo it's a dark shadow, tough to tell if it's just a shadow, or an actual bedside step. |
Re: SPOTTED: C30 in SA (RHD)
Just think about that, shifting with your left hand.
