1965 c10 patina build
This is going to be a patina build. I have always painted my trucks I restored but I have always wanted to do one without the body and paint work. My plans are redo all the interior including paint, seat. carpet. wiring. rust repair. Rebuild all the brakes, new suspension, engine ect. I have a rebuilt 350 and a 400 transmission. I am also adding power steering. I have a set of rally wheels bought and am planning on buying new 265-60-15 inch tires. I am lowering the front 1 inch and the rear 3 inch. I am also going to redo the bed floor. I already have the new strips and bolts bought and floor pans, rockers, Here are some pictures.https://flic.kr/p/2jgUtcXhttps://flic.kr/p/2jgXk32

Re: 1965 c10 patina build
Truck looks good and your making good progress ! Our trucks are almost identical and have the same rust issues lol . My outer eyebrow was rusted just on the ends like yours but soon as I removed the roof skin I could see a lot more rust on that panel . I always blast the cab now first and get a better idea of what I’m working with

Re: 1965 c10 patina build
Your making great progress looks good!
|
Re: 1965 c10 patina build
Great to see things moving along with your build!
|
Re: 1965 c10 patina build
If you are doing that well using flux core, you'll find it a breeze with gas shielded.
|
Re: 1965 c10 patina build
Yes I know but what I have is all I could afford at the time. It has been a great little welder. I would love to upgrade to a better one with gas so much better to weld with

Re: 1965 c10 patina build
I have the cab on and part of the front clip. I am going to patch the drivers side fender it is really rough.https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ee887a034d.jpgIMG_4611 by Daniel Crymes, on Flickrhttps://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...fb4fe3a208.jpgIMG_4610 by Daniel Crymes, on Flickr

Re: 1965 c10 patina build
Good work! That fender looks very rough. Is a replacement fender a possibility? I guess it could be challenging to match the patina though.
|
Re: 1965 c10 patina build
I am planning on priming the rockers light gray and thought I would do the same to the patch panel on the fender. I hope it looks of like that

Re: 1965 c10 patina build
It is pine I am staining it the dark color you can see on one of the short boards in the picture. What color should I paint the metal strips?
|
Re: 1965 c10 patina build
I didn't repaint my strips, but they still have some of the original, black paint left. I really like the look of the black strips with the color stain I have. Post 588
