Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

i was going to say that original backhalf certainly doens't look very strong, but then it was modified. the new version should hold up better and be less reliable on good welds. the old one would have self destructed if a weld broke.

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

thanks again guys... progress has been good got the tranny tunnel/driveshaft notch 1/2 done should be done this week. I'll post pics when its done.

Madiron- as for the old backhalf its long gone sorry.

Jimmydean- the balkhalf idea was inspiared from XXL's and valleycustoms backhalf/frame, as well as i was going for a simple/clean look, yet some thing that looks good and was strong.

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

gorgeous work, I love the backhalf, wish I had the time to do that. I'm 18 and gonna notch my truck at thanksgiving wen I'm home from skool. Already built everything else and got full airbags. Definately encouraging to see people about my age doing kick ass jobs at home, cuz no way in hell is a shop gonna do something that I could learn 2 do...

Nice looking work. Used a little wire lately? Anyone that has ever done sheetmetal work can appreciate the amount of work that has gone into your trans tunnel.

I assume you'll be running bucket seats?

Keep up the good work. Wanna do mine next? -Chris

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

Nice Work! One question though, what are the braces for that are towards the back wall? Is that a support for a driveshaft loop or something?

FnLow69 09-11-2006 04:43 PM

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

the brace's our connected to each other and its to add strength back to the rear cab brace that was cut.

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

Great work hope to soon be there. I was wondering on the pics theres one that has a 2x2 i was wondering if that was in the front or the back of the crossmember. Why is that crossmember in the rear of the suspension crossmember?

FnLow69 09-12-2006 10:17 PM

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

the peice of 2x3 was there to keep the frame together when i Z'd the frame. i have removed it.

abadsvt 09-13-2006 11:17 AM

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

Will someone please explain why the second way he ran the rear section is stronger than the first one? I did noticed that the first one i didn't see any gussets but besides that? I am interested because i plan on slammin my truck but want to keep the bed normal with the notches cut out rather than raising the entire floor for the bed. I hope that makes sence.

Your truck looks sweet!!!! Another stupid question is why did you have to tunnel through the cab? I thought i have seen other trucks that are bagged that didn't have the cab cut. I could be completly wrong though. I am definately be watching this thread. Great pics and info!!!!! Good Job!

hotrodhomi 09-13-2006 11:21 AM

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

I don't think you have seen truck that will be this low without cutting up the cab floor. Bagged trucks don't need the cab cut unless you do other things to make them lower like chopped crossmember, bodydrop, ect..

bagged69c10 09-13-2006 01:44 PM

Re: [PROJECT] FnLow 69

Its almost scary how similar my truck is to yours. Nice work.

To answer the first part is stronger in that its boxed and theres not that many cut in the frame, the old one had three cuts (behind the cab, and on both side of the notch. the new on has two.

And to answer why i had to tunnel the hole floor is because its bodydropped also and set up for a 28" tire in the rear.

thank everyone for the encourging words will have more pics soon.
