ive never seen one of those, thats pretty cool, ive been trying to find a model of my/our trucks but the only one ive found has bling wheels with it and the wiper washer bottle is wrong and the inner fenders are wrong to but anyway,

anyone know who has a good kit of our trucks???

68speedalert 01-22-2007 01:07 AM

Re: Check out this model of a 72

I didn't have that kit.

I had one that had the 72 cab, and a camper body instead of the truck bed.

It was a 1/25th glue type......maybe 35 years ago.

here are some pics of a model of a 72

the kit was a longbed but i cut it down to a short bed and shaved the trim and made my own custom frame

Aarons72s 01-22-2007 02:56 AM

Re: Check out this model of a 72

cstm68 that is cool. I bet that took alot of hours. I have put the stock kit together twice. Did you have problems with the bed sides and frame? I had to shave plastic off of the bed sides to get them to sit level and the chasis was warped in both kits. You may not have had any problems since you really kit bashed yours. I do think it is time for a new more detailed kit plus some 67 68 grills, 69-72 grills a 67-68 hood and some gmc grills. Even though the amt model is old they still sale fast. The places around here that stock them are always selling out.

Re: Check out this model of a 72

I don't know how much longer we will be able to find these kits. I found out a few nights ago that AMT/ERTL is up for sale.
68speedalert, I have the one you're talking about, I also have one I converted into 4 wheel drive, I even took 2 and made a Longhorn. I have a few Blazers and setp sides too, even made a trailer out of 1. I think total I have 17 and a half 69-72 1/25th scale trucks...

Holy Bowtie Batman !!!!!!!!!

I still have a 72 stepside longbed (urgh) that came with a motorcycle. Have the original box but the model has been assembled and since kinda fell apart, as old models do.

Re: Check out this model of a 72

chaps7931, great models! I swear these models sometimes take as much time and effort as our real trucks. Here are a couple of pictures off of ebay of some other kits. Including the 1972 gmc kit. I think we should rename this thread the 67-72 models build thread.

Yeah I have a few RC's. Everythings 1/10 electric except for an old 1/18 Oval Outlaws kit by BRP. I took 2 beds and 2 frames to make the Longhorn. Here's 2 pics of the conversion. I had built it a standard 8' bed then decided I wanted a Longhorn...

Yeh, I started in 1/28, and now stepping into the 1/18. Trying to find a 67-72 body for the 1/18 to no avail. :(

Now I see how you did it, I couldnt see the cut lines in the other pics. Nice job.

Ive done a few models. 41 Willys, 96 S10 Xtreme, 06 Z06, using a '55 nomad for a 1/28 rc project. And I did a 78 El Camino for fathers day, exactly as my dad's was. That was my favorite build.

The only 1/18 body I can think of would be a Johnny Lightning dicast body...

Yeh, I meant like lexan bodies for r/c's. Though it would be kinda fun to actualy have it dent and twist.

Give them time and they'll probably do an 1/18 scale lexan body...

72customcamper,

Nice job on the longhorn!

BTW, I see my old camper behind it in those pics. Post some shots of it, if you want.

I used to build a lot of models before I turned 16; got pretty good at it, too. You're just about making want to start again.

They look awesome.

They got them(lexan) for 1/10(Savage/TMaxx sized) and 1/8(LST/MGT). I've got a 1/10 for my Savage awaiting paint and a 1/8 on order for my LST.
The best truck body I've seen(and have) for 1/18 is the Dakota that is meant for the Micro RS4, but I have it adapted to my brushless RC18T.

72 custom camper,,nice models..special k i would kill for a model of that camper...i build alot of different stuff,,got more stalled and in prgress models than finished ones,,,heres a link to my fotli album with what i got pics of..i did build a 60 chevy into a 4x4 with working coil spring suspension,,turned out alright for not knowing what i was doing...if it was real it would have i think 55 inches of flex..got a 60 chevy im body dropping,,c-ntched frame,,454 i think..the 72 chevy i got im turning into a 68 gmc when i get to it..

http://public.fotki.com/His-n-Hers/southernmutts_junk/

right now im into a 55 chevy cameo pickup,,that im making into a custom from the 60's..its a big headache,,but im going to finished it in the next month or so.. this one is pushing the limits of my building skill past anything i have tried so far, it has close to 9 scale inches removed so far,,but i still got to chop the top..i got anything from rat rods,, to prostreet to strret rods...i have only built one box stock model in my life,,most of them get dropped,,just started wiring the enigines and plumbing them a couple of yrs ago..basicly im just a hacker..

Thanks for posting those pics of the camper 72cc. I really had that one a LONG time ago. To tell the truth, I don't think I was able to get it done. I must have only been 10 or so and really early in my modeling. You know, more glue on your hands than on the plastic.

Doesn't it have appliances and stuff on the inside?

Most of them are mild custom with mostly out of the box parts.

Mine is the Model King reissue. I hope he's going to do another run of them so I can get another one. It does have full interior. The only thing I will need to change if I get another one is the wheelbase is too short...

I'm sorry, a 1/2 ton with a slide in.......not squatting enough in the rear!

That is amazing. What material did you use for all the flat surfaces on both the campers?

I had to put heavy duty overloads in it. LOL I used .040 sheet plastic to built them. I've also done a teardrop, pop up and tag along campers too...
