Does anybody have pics of there trucks on a 6/8 or 6/7 drop?? I plan on droppin mine soon but not too sure on what drop i want. Thanks :metal:

Here's mine. The measurements are from the top of the wheel opening to the ground...front 24 1/2"....rear 26 3/4"

The fronts are P255/60R-15 and for the rear, 31x18.5-15 street tires, 32.0x14.0-15 and 33x16.0-15 fun tires.

You guys bottom out much...... any special triicks to do or just good drop shocks and no bumpstop...

The only thing I ever hit was my exhaust down pipe by the heaeders, it was stock and about 3-4 inches off the ground. It was the lowest point on my truck.

6/8 here, too. The inner fenders are still in place.

at that point the x member is 1 inch from the ground, i wouldnt be worried about the bump stops lol

mine is 5.something in the front and its already scraping the headers and control arms on big bumps... i donno how you guys do it.

how do you guys with 6-8 drops turn? doesnt the tire cram into the fender?

I don't have any rubbing at all with my 15's or my 18/20 combo. I do scrape my a-arms on nasty roads and some exhaust scrapes from my 40 degree driveway back in WA when running the 15's. Other than that, I have some great Monroe shocks and I learned how to "read the road" at a young age...probably why it feels weird to drive a 4x4 right now and not have to dodge or travel down certain roads.

I agree with this. I got my experience driving my daughter's then boyfriend's lowered mini truck back in the 80's. After a few really good scrapes you learn what not to do. Some places limit me, but if I can get that just right angle I can go over most obstacles.

Thanks. I love them, too. I agree with the "reading the road" as well. You definitely learn to keep your eyes open. We are pretty lucky to have good roads around here for the most part. I have a 70 mile commute, and there are days I drive the truck to work. Haven't had any problems on the highways at all, but you ave to pay attention in teh neighborhoods the most. That's been my experience, anyhow.

Thanks Jonboy. Most difficult thing is trying to keep the tread on them, if you know what I mean:lol:. Only thing that changes things is the spool. Other than that, the rear tires will pretty much roll over whatever the fronts will. Before the radials the bias plys were a nightmare, especially on any kind of wet surface.

You could try the 73-80 fenders, I think they are taller so you have more room.

Ok, want to go lower, turn your wheels lock to lock. Measure how far the fender lip is from the tire and subtract atleast an 1-1.5"s. So with the wheels turned lets say its 4inches from the tire, you could drop the truck 2.5-3 more inches.

I cut a small peice off my 2"drop springs... so I'm alittle lower, but now my tires rub the fender on light bumps.... how many of u guys cut that part out...

245/60 in front, 255/70 in the rear. The wheels are 15x8.5 all the way around.

I don't have drop spindles so my control arms have about 5" of clearance under them. My truck is about a 5.5/8 drop and i have just as much clearance underneath as a stock sports car. I have never once bottomed out on anything except the bump stops. Thats the one disavantage of drop spindles. Instantly puts the control arm 2-3" closer to the pavement. As long as you can align it afterwards then you are ok... I am only going to install drop spindles when I bag the front. I'll be able to raise the front way up to drive it anyways so clearance wont be an issue. I'll try to take a pic this week of the clearance under my front end. Im not saying this is the way anyone else should do it, Im just saying spindles cause ground clearance issues when you start running big drops and small tires.

I've hit some pretty big manholes and road imperfections and haven't had any clearance or rubbing issues in the front with a smaller tire.
