Project 78 High Sierra

Well I decided to finally start my build thread even though I have just been working on the floor panels for over a month(http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=496904)...Now that they are done I can start working on the truck as a whole even though I will probably focus on the interior of the cab first...I do still need to remove the bed a put new cab corners on...Here is a list of several things....

O and Ive never done much mechanic work so this is also a nice learning experience lol

5. Remove and Replace trim
6. Rear patches over wheels
7. Get front and rear bumpers powder coated
8. Adjust suspension (looks rusted )
9. Battery Tray
10. Windshield Washing Cap replacement
11. New Inner Wheel Wells
12: Repair Dash Pad
13: Replace Carpet

$210 is a good price to let a shop do the windshield install. I think I have more than that in mine and I did it by myself.

Thanks!! Yeah those are the original stainless steel mirrors as far as I know and they are in great shape..A little loose though and i need to tighten them because the wind blows them as i drive and I have to reach out and move them back all the time

This is a High Sierra 1/2 ton with HD suspension out of the factory....Not exactly sure what that means as far as it goes but i guess that was part of it

Got my seat cover in today....I am amazed at what $212 can get ya.....I almost wish I opted for the leather look but these things look amazing...I cant wait to let them sit in the sun and actually hog loop them on...

Windshield is getting replaced Saturday morning for $250...I opted for chrome seal so the price went up a little but the guy has everything in stock. Would of been getting done tomorrow but his Credit Card Machine is broke so cash payment upon finish

Installed the Cab Corners and the 6x9s today. Also ordered a bunch of stuff this weekend..

5.25 infinity Components - Still deciding if I want to make Kick Panels or Put them in the door

Outer Cab Corner Repair Panels

Door Arm Rests

Dash Molding Trim

Pioneer Shallow Mount Sub and Box (Only 4.3" deep) I want to be able to push the seat back so this was a necessary evil...

Monster RCA Wire, Speaker Wire, and Ground loop isolator

White Face Gauges

Steering Wheel Setup

Aluminum Window Handles

Door Weather Stripping All but the corner windows

Wired int the cab corners with new monster speaker wire...Ran a true memory wire direct to the battery, ran all new wires to all audio...Including soon to be mounted kick panel speakers... Also installed my new slim mount Pioneer sub and box so I will be able to move the bench back

Did my first welding ever on inner fenders I got from pull a part with a 90 AMP flux core mig welder...Yeah it looks nasty but its a first...Also cleaned and coated one of the fender with undercoating...

Mounted the CD player with the metal metra bracket directly to the metal dash. Cut the dash bezel to fit over it when reinstalled and just pop the stereo ring on..

Also replaced the inline fuel filter which fixed issue with the carb

JRANGER 03-27-2012 09:05 PM

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

still working...Replaced driver side door pings and a hinge...Still have to get in lined up right though..Gonna try that this weekend

Well Friday Installed the new bench and drove over to my moms Saturday but when my friend arrived he laughed and asked if it ran. So I started it up only to notice it bogging down. Open the hood only to notice the inline fuel filter leaking gas. Come to find out the new filter was plastic so luckily i replaced it with the old glass part....

Saturday I got my brothers helped and removed the doors, replaced the pins, bushing, and one of the hinges. Installed the missing driverside rear channel, welded the bolt location that was partially cracked, installed a new steering wheel, and all new window weather stripping

Also installed White Face Gauge overlays and vled 360 blue leds the week before

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Great work man! I love these build threads, btw where did you get that seat cover?!?!?!?! That would look so killer in my truck!

Also I did my 5.25's in my doors. I love the way they sound and they carry through the cab very well. Im thinking of switching to a shallow mount sub or one L7 8" sub since they do have a mounting depth of only 4.2" or so.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Ordered it from http://www.ricksupholstery.com/sales_i.html...It was only $210 shipped to Nashville...May be a lil more to LA but i was thrilled...They also installed 80s style seat belt holes....Just modify the foam for them if u want them.....

Ive got some kick panels to install still with infinity 5 1/4 components ...I cant wait to install them and the rest of the interior
